New Project Status Update

from IMRF Executive Director

Thank you to all IMRF employers for your support over the last six months as we transitioned to new Employer Access and Member Access websites.


In April, IMRF Executive Director Brian Collins first updated you on the project's status. Please watch this new video update now that we are six months past our March 4 launch date.

Action Required to Avoid Late Payment Fees and Interest Charges

IMRF to begin charging late wage report fees and interest on late contributions starting October 1

Earlier this year, the IMRF Board of Trustees adopted a resolution for a six-month grace period waiving all fees due on late wage reports and interest on late contributions. This was to allow our employers time to become familiar with our new Employer Access system.


That six-month grace period is coming to an end. IMRF will begin charging late wage report fees and interest on late contributions starting October 1.


Payments due by September 30 to avoid late fees

To avoid late fees, please remit any late wage reports and contribution payments no later than September 30.


If a wage report is received after this date, a fee of $25 per late wage report per month will be accrued for any months missing. Late contributions accrue interest 30 days after invoice, applied on the total days late, at 1% per month. Both will be invoiced upon submission.

Please visit our Employer Access Learning Center for easy-to-follow videos to assist you in filing your wage report(s) and missing contributions. Or, send us a Secure Message from your Employer Access account to ask specific questions you may have on filing reports or making payments


If you call our Employer Contact Center at 1-800-729-7871, you may experience high hold times; you may receive a call back from our Wage Reports Unit or your Employer Representative.

Last Call for Employee Trustee Nominations Accepted through September 16

Just a few days left to submit a nominating petition for Employee Trustee.


This fall, IMRF members will elect one Employee Trustee for a five-year term of office, from January 1, 2025, through December 31, 2029.


You can run for Employee Trustee if you are:

  • An active member currently participating in IMRF
  • Vested in IMRF as of December 31, 2024 (eight years for Tier 1 members, 10 years for Tier 2 members)
  • Not employed by an IMRF employer as a chief executive officer, chief finance officer, or other officer, executive, or department head

August 2024 Board Meeting Highlights

On Friday, August 30, the IMRF Board of Trustees:

  • Heard a status update on IMRF's technology modernization project
  • Reviewed the results of a survey benchmarking IMRF customer service against other pension funds
  • Discussed IMRF's assumed rate of investment return

This 2-part webinar series prepares IMRF Authorized Agents to perform common IMRF tasks. Note: To receive a completion certificate, you must attend the online session live. Watching a recording at a later date will not result in a certificate of completion.


Together, these two 90-minute webinars cover the topics included in the former one-day workshop. Each webinar stands alone, and you can attend them in either order. Canceling your registration from just one module is not permitted.
