Understanding the Status of Your Wage Report Data Collection |
While data collections are in the In Progress area, they are still pending and will have the status of either initial data entry or action definition.
Initial data entry means you are in step #2. Action definition means you are in step #3. Both statuses mean you need to perform additional steps to complete the data collection.
You will need to either 1) delete the data collection if it is no longer needed, or 2) complete and submit the data collection.
If the system says Submitted for validation, Submitted for completion, or Submitted for validation and load, this means the system is processing the information.
Verification requested is another possible status you will see. You just need to wait for it to be approved. If it is rejected, you will need to take further action to complete and resubmit the data collection. The status will reflect this by saying Verification rejected - action definition. For instructions on how to edit the information and resubmit rejected data collections, please click here.
Additional information and resources related to submitting wage reports can be found on the Wage Report Procedures page in the Employer Access Learning Center.

Why Does IMRF Perform Compliance Reviews? |
By performing compliance reviews, IMRF can assist employers in understanding and administering IMRF benefits according to the Illinois Pension Code. Performing compliance reviews is considered a best practice for public pension funds.
To help you understand and prepare for a compliance review, our website explains IMRF's compliance review process, including tools, resources, and best practices that could help prevent compliance findings.
How are employers selected for compliance reviews?
Every December IMRF selects which employers will be reviewed in the following year. We consider several factors such as:
- The date of an employer’s last IMRF compliance review
- Employer Representative territory
- Type and size of employer
The IMRF Board of Trustees approves the number of employer compliance reviews we perform each year. IMRF reviews approximately 200 employers a year.
We are here to help you
Our compliance team will involve you at every stage of the review, so you understand what is being done and why. The most successful employer compliance reviews happen when the employer and the IMRF Employer Compliance team have a collaborative working relationship.
For more information regarding employer compliance reviews, please visit the IMRF compliance pages.

IMRF Earns its Fourth GFOA Triple Crown Award |
The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) has awarded IMRF its prestigious "Triple Crown" Award for the fourth year in a row.
This award recognizes governments that have received all three GFOA Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting awards, which include the:
- Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) Award
- Popular Annual Financial Reporting (PAFR) Award
- Distinguished Budget Presentation Award
This year's "Triple Crown" Award honors the ACFR and PAFR prepared for Fiscal Year 2022 and the Budget for 2024. These documents, as well as the most recent versions of the ACFR and PAFR, can be found here. The 2024 Budget document can be downloaded here.
IMRF is one of just four public pensions in the United States and Canada to receive the “Triple Crown” honor. Out of more than 3,000 units of government in Illinois, only 32 others also earned this recognition.
IMRF is Committed to Transparency in Financial Reporting
IMRF has made a long-term commitment to transparency in financial reporting. The organization’s ACFR has received GFOA’s Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting 49 separate years. That places IMRF on GFOA’s top ten list of all-time award recipients.
IMRF members and retirees can trust in the thorough, accurate, and transparent financial reporting that has consistently earned IMRF honors from GFOA!
