FREE RIDES on the new Foster City Express (FCX) until August 30
Do you suffer from freeway fatigue? Are you tired of slogging it out every day driving alone? Would a free ride to SF help you? SamTrans has you covered! See press release below (condensed) for more info:

"Starting Monday, August 19, SamTrans will introduce express bus service between Foster City and San Francisco aboard Route FCX . To celebrate the new service, the route will operate free of charge for the first two weeks through August 30.

Foster City and northern San Mateo residents working in San Francisco can catch Route FCX at limited stops throughout Foster City and at 3rd Ave & Norfolk St in San Mateo before running express on US-101 to San Francisco. Once in San Francisco, Route FCX stops along Mission Street near Civic Center, Salesforce Transit Center, Financial District, and the San Francisco Ferry Building. Route FCX San Francisco runs about every 30 minutes on weekdays 6-8 a.m. and 3:30-6 p.m .

SamTrans’ new route is made possible by funds from Measure W , the countywide half-cent sales tax passed by County voters in November 2018. This is the first of six planned express bus routes rolling out over the next five years. The route will utilize SamTrans’ upgraded fleet offering onboard Wi-Fi and a low floor design that facilitates easier, faster boarding.

Upon completion of San Mateo County’s US-101 Express Lane Project in 2022, express bus riders will have access to the newly constructed lanes for improved reliability and travel time."

Ferry to the sky (by shuttle)!
Another great new service going live this month is the SFO Ferry Connector Bus. Those who commute to Oyster Point, South San Francisco via the ferry from Oakland Jack London Square or Alameda Main Street can enjoy a free shuttle to SFO from the ferry terminal. A great new connection for commuters coming from the East Bay who work in or near the airport, or for those heading out of town.

Many of you already know this, but we should note that two of our Commute.org shuttles serve the SSF ferry terminal as well and both are FREE to ride:

See you out on the Bay!

TrafficBusters! Tip of the Month
Carpooling [ kahr-pool-ing ] (noun):

Two or more people riding together in a vehicle. Works best when logging trips and earning points and prizes by registering for STAR rewards. Often accomplished through newfangled ridesharing app or old-school bulletin board. May be casual or planned. Usually results in a much faster commute trip in an HOV lane.
