Hot off the Press: The results of the 2018 EmployerOne Survey


This year Workforce Planning Hamilton heard back from 278 local employers in a wide variety of industries.

What did employers tell us?

  • 85% of employers hired in 2017
  • 45% stated the number of employees they have is growing
  • 77% reported that they plan to hire in the upcoming year

What are the jobs in demand in Hamilton?

  • The majority of jobs hired for in 2017 were for Business, finance and administration occupations.
  • In this industry most people were hired as customer service reps and call centre agents

Hard-to-fill positions

The industries that had the most challenges with recruitment were construction, manufacturing and professional, scientific, and technical services.

Our event, Back to the Future: Workforce Planning in the 21st Century will bring together our partners, funders, employers, and the community to help us celebrate 20 years of workforce development work in Hamilton.

When: Wednesday, April 25, 2018
Time: 3:00 pm. to 5:30 pm.
Where: The Hamilton Public Library, Central Branch, 55 York Blvd., Hamilton, 4th Floor.

Our celebration will feature a keynote address by Creig Lamb, from the Ryerson's Brookfield Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship; a retrospective video, networking and refreshments.
