Business, Labour & Community: Planning for Prosperity!

Employers: We are in the final stretch for the EmployerOne Survey

Workforce Planning Hamilton thanks the close to 200 employers who have completed the EmployerOne survey this year!

Employers are finding our redesigned survey shorter and easier to complete.

There are still several sectors that we'd like to hear more from regarding their  vacancies, hiring plans, recruitment strategies and challenges.

In particular we'd like to hear from companies in:
  • Construction
  • Health care and Social Assistance
  • Accommodation and Food Services
  • Transportation and Warehousing
  • Real Estate, Rental and Leasing
  • Wholesale Trade
  • Other Services (Repair and Maintenance, Personal and Laundry Services; Religion, Grant Making)

The results of the survey will help to create a strong workforce for our city!
Connect to Careers Job Fair, February 2/17

The Connect to Careers Job Fair takes place on February 2 from 11 am. to 3 pm. at FirstOntario Centre.

Students, alumni, and community job seekers are welcome to attend! Bring a resume and dress for success!

Only half of disabled Canadians have full- or part-time job

A new poll suggests that employment conditions remain dismal for Canadians with disabilities.

The survey commissioned by CIBC and conducted by Angus Reid found that only half of respondents living with a disability have a full or part-time job.

Two years ago, Statistics Canada released similar figures putting the employment rate for disabled Canadians at 49 per cent, compared to 79 per cent for the general population.
