School Counselor
Iona Preparatory School has an opening in its comprehensive and developmental school counseling program for the position of school counselor during the 2017-2018 academic year. The position reports directly to the Director of School Counseling and includes (but is not limited to) the following responsibilities:
Individual meetings with high school students to ensure their academic, post-secondary and social-emotional success.
Designing and implementing school counseling lessons and enhancing the School Counseling Program Curriculum.
Regular consultation with the school counseling director, school social worker, college counselors and key administrators.
Participation in School Counseling meetings and Pupil Personnel Team meetings.
Frequent communication and collaboration with parents and teachers.
Sustaining confidential student records.
Supporting students with classroom and testing accommodations.
Maintaining and building referrals with external support programs i.e. mental health providers, tutors, etc.
Keeping up-to-date with best-practices in school counseling and adolescent developmental psychology.
Attending professional development on-site and off-site.
