POSITION:       Broadcast Associate

DESCRIPTION: The John D. Calandra Italian American Institute of Queens College/CUNY seeks applications for the position of Broadcast Associate, who will report to the Dean and work closely with the Producer of the TV program, ITALICS. This a 32-hour per week position.

DUTIES:

• Camera operation: studio, remotes, and in-house; sometimes with director / producer, sometimes unsupervised.
• Post-production: video editing: log & transfer, rough cuts, editing promos and short-form videos, export to Quicktime; upload to FTP/delivery to CUNY TV for broadcast, create DVDs, and related tasks.
• Research: events and happenings in the community, potential guest appearances, information for interviews/events covered.
• Develop / create program look and style through post-production techniques.
• Provide recommendations to producers regarding technical aspects of television programs and segments.
• May produce and/or and serve as talent needed on ITALICS and related programs.
• Manage the correspondence for most matters involving the program.
• Perform other duties appropriately assigned by the dean or producer.

QUALIFICATIONS: BFA, MA, MFA, or the equivalent from an accredited college in a related field and three years of directly related full-time equivalent experience. Knowledge of Final Cut Pro 7. Strong television production skills (please include a URL to REEL or sample work). Strong writing and oral communication skills required. Will require working occasional evenings, weekends, overnights, and civil holidays. Experience with lighting preferred. Knowledge of Italian-American Studies and Italian-American Community preferred; knowledge of Italian preferred.

SALARY:          Commensurate with experience.
