Through education, advocacy, and support, we’re fostering a healthier, stronger future for families and youth.
Through the incredible passion and dedication of our amazing team including many volunteers and mental health professionals—we’ve launched transformative initiatives to:
- Raise awareness of mental health challenges unique to Asian American youth.
- Build resources and support systems to promote wellness.

Supported by WAVES, Award-winning documentary filmmaker Professor Changfu Chang and his devoted team continued working on Silent War, a documentary shedding light on the mental health crisis in the Asian American community. The Silent War team traveled across the world in the past two years to film, giving Asian Americans a space to tell their stories.
|
Now Changfu and his team are wrapping up the production part of Silent War. Specifically, a couple of freelancers are hired to film (in some cases, re-shoot) additional short interviews and b-roll/footage; a music director is brought to the production and discussions on the music are ongoing; requests are being made for rights to music and archival materials, and the "final version" of the rough cut is being edited (before the film is sent to the editor at the production facility who will complete the final phases including color grading, audio sweetening, motion and graphics design).

Your generous donation will help to complete the film.

In collaboration with Mental Health Association for Chinese Communities, UCA WAVES team started to provide mental health first aid (MHFA) training to Chinese Americans from 2022!
The Mental Health First Aid Training Program aims to educate community members about mental health and boost their ability to prevent or handle crises, allowing them to become "mental health guardians" for themselves and their loved ones.
In 2023, 204 people completed training and became Mental Health First Aiders!! So far, in 2024, 350 people have completed training and become Mental Health First Aiders!!
