Provide clean shells, stones, or summer-themed objects. Children can sort by size, shape, color, or texture.

Give children paintbrushes and small buckets of water. Let them “paint” sidewalks, fences, or outdoor boards. It is simple, mess-free, and fun!

💛 Big Emotions Section: Helping Children Handle Bullying
Bullying can be scary and confusing for young children. Child care providers can help by responding calmly, clearly, and quickly.
Tip of the Week: Name it, stop it, and teach kindness.
If a child is being hurt, left out, or teased, step in right away. Use simple words:
“That was not kind. We do not hurt or leave friends out. Let’s try again.”
Then support both children. Help the child who was hurt feel safe, and help the other child learn a better choice.
Try asking:
🌼 “How do you think your friend felt?”
🌼 “What can you do to help fix it?”
🌼 “What words can you use next time?”
- Young children are still learning how to solve problems. With patient guidance, they can learn empathy, respect, and safer ways to express big feelings.
