Every child deserves a healthy place to learn, grow and thrive.

WHE launches a new resource for the community

We are thrilled to introduce the Environmental Health Resource Hub, a valuable new tool designed to empower you and your loved ones in creating healthier living spaces. Our homes are where we spend the majority of our time, yet we often overlook how our environment can significantly influence our health and well-being.

This Hub, developed through WHE's Healthy Home Production Grant from HUD, offers essential guidance and resources on a wide range of topics—from asbestos to safety concerns—ensuring that you have the knowledge needed to maintain a safe home. We encourage you to explore this resource and share it with your community, including family, friends, and colleagues, because together we can promote a culture of health and safety.

WHE featured on Talk Pittsburgh

WHE's executive director had an opportunity to discuss the continued trend of school openings delayed due to mold, as well as the back-to-school checklist all parents should have for the new school year. This checklist focuses on addressing environmental issues that can lead to poor academic performance and missed school days. The list includes the following questions:

  • Has your school adopted an indoor air quality management plan that is followed all year (this can prevent mold!)?
  • Does your school have filtered drinking water stations, including filtration of all drinking water outlets and food preparation areas?
  • Has your school tested for radon?
