We Have a New Logo!

Options for Learning turns 40 this year and we are celebrating with a new look.

Our new logo launches July 1.

Holiday Closure

Options for Learning will be closed on Monday, July 5, 2021 in observance of Independence Day.

Update on Health Screenings

Staff will no longer be conducting health screenings upon children's arrival to the in-person program. However, if instructed to resume health screenings by Public Health, we will inform parents of the changes. Parents will continue to attest that their child is not experiencing Covid-19 related symptoms or has a fever of 100.4 or above when they sign in their child. If your child is ill, please keep them at home and seek medical advice if the illness is serious or related to Covid-19. Please follow quarantine or isolation periods if needed.

Update on Masks

Effective July 1, staff and children will no longer be required to wear a mask during outside activities. Baggies or other individual containers will be provided to store masks during outdoor play. Although our sign-in/out area is stationed outdoors, we ask kindly that parents continue to wear a mask during drop off and pick up. Masks will still be required indoors.

Travel Guidance

Travel Guidelines

To ensure the health and safety of our staff and children, we are following the travel guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Although California no longer has a travel advisory, staff and children will be expected to follow travel guidelines from the CDC when traveling outside of the state.

A. Individuals who are unvaccinated are encouraged but not expected to get tested with a viral test 3-5 days after travel and stay home to self-quarantine for a full 7 days after travel.

If the test result is negative, individuals need to stay home and self-quarantine for the full 7 days.
If the test result is positive, individuals must isolate for 10 days to protect others from getting infected.
Individuals who do not get tested must self-quarantine for 10 days after travel.

B. Fully vaccinated individuals do not have to quarantine unless they are experiencing symptoms.

C. Fully vaccinated individuals are recommended to get tested 3-5 days after international travel.

We plan to follow these guidelines until they are revised by public health officials. We appreciate everyone's cooperation.

Students will enjoy snow cone treats to cool off!

July 16 - Xtreme Game Truck

July 19 & July 23 - The Blue Submarine

Students will learn about sea creatures and get to touch some of our ocean friends.

Note: Additional fees are note required to attend events. However, events are strictly for our in-person program students.

Distance Learning

If you selected for your child to remain in our modified distance learning program throughout summer, you will be receiving information from our site staff by email or phone call. You may also contact your child's teacher directly to schedule one-on-one wellness checks. If you are unsure of your child's distance learning site assignment, please contact our office at (626) 967-9337 or contact the Education Coordinator, Veronica Covarrubias at (626) 479-8784.

Virtual Learning

Starting July 1, our summer theme will be oceanography. Your child can follow along with our in-person program theme online. Simply click on the blue button below to explore oceans, marine biology, and more! There are also fun and educational online games available for them to navigate, e.g. Room Recess and Fun Brain.

The Empowered Learning program is part of Options for Learning's Enrichment Program Division. For more information about the agency or specific divisions, please visit our website at www.OptionsForLearning.org.
