Join us for Family Fun Day and Disability Resource Fair!

DAWN Center for Independent Living invites you to a day filled with fun and resources on Sunday, May 18, 2025, from 12 PM to 4 PM at the Central Park of Morris County, Parsippany-Troy Hills, NJ. Enjoy live music, food trucks, STEM activities, games, prizes, and more! Don't miss the wheelchair softball game at 3 PM. Rain or shine, we'll be there!

Be Well & Thrive

Join us for Inclusive Health Promotion Classes in collaboration with Be Well & Thrive, a NJ non-profit organization dedicated to providing people with disabilities, functional limitations, and older adults access to programs and resources that promote optimal health.

When: Thursdays from 6-7 PM, starting May 15th

Where: Shepard of the Hill Lutheran Church, Sparta

In a supportive and engaging group setting, participants will collaborate with peers, explore personal health and wellness, and create goals to live healthy lives. Topics include:

Light stretching/chair exercises
Nutrition
Health maintenance
Personal care
Emotional/social wellbeing
And more…

There will be a class celebration ceremony at the final class. Participants who attend all 8 classes will be awarded a $25 Amazon Gift Card!

Your Voice Matters: NJ DVRS Annual Public Forums

Starting this month, NJ DVRS will be hosting their annual public forums, providing a valuable opportunity for consumers to share their experiences and feedback with representatives from DVRS and the State Rehabilitation Council. Your thoughts, concerns, and suggestions are crucial for improving DVRS services and ensuring they meet your needs optimally. Three forums will be held, April 30th, May 20th and June 5th.

Accessing and receiving DVRS services
Improving awareness and access to DVRS
Enhancing service delivery
Pre-ETS and transition services

NJ Transit Expands Ride-Sharing

NJ Transit's Access Link ride-sharing pilot program is expanding to include more types of transportation companies, thanks to a new law passed by the state Legislature. This expansion aims to improve transportation options for seniors and individuals with disabilities by allowing companies like Uber, Lyft, taxi, limousine, and transportation network companies to participate in the program. The inclusion of wheelchair-accessible vehicles and drivers ensures that the entire disability community can benefit from this service.
