HERA

Hera (Her Enterprise for Reinvestment and Advancement) program helps women start small businesses. Aptly, it is sponsored by Soroptimist International, a global volunteer service organization for women to improve the lives of women and girls.

Initially, 50 women have received livelihood support to start or expand small businesses that help strengthen their household income and financial security. The women are engaged in a range of income-generating activities, including pig raising, vegetable growing, corn cultivation vegetable selling, small home-based grocery shops, and a mobile food business. These businesses are creating practical opportunities for women to generate income, support their families, and build greater resilience.

Under the agreement between CCDO and the beneficiaries, each participant will repay 50% percent of the loan after six months, and the rest at the end of the year. This six-month period is designed to give women sufficient time to invest the capital in their businesses, strengthen operations, and begin generating stable income. CCDO has placed strong emphasis on practical, hands-on support including connection with local agricultural officers who provide direct coaching, demonstrations, and updated farming techniques in ways that are easy to understand and apply.

School Uniforms

Once again, we are grateful to Maureen Maloof and her Uniforms for Hope as they generously donated $10,000 to purchase uniforms for 1,000 students. This is the fourth year that Uniforms for Hope has donated to CCDO.

We distributed 1,000 sets of uniforms and shoes to the poorest students from 30 primary schools in 3 districts (Varin, Svay Leu, and Angkor Thom) in Siem Reap Province.

Library Books Reach a New School

Lead by Bunchhern (a former computer teacher with CCDO), a group of 13 teacher trainees delivered 250 children’s storybooks, which were sponsored by the students of Penn State University, who visit our programs in Cambodia yearly. Books were given to Lbeuk Prey Primary School, located rural Siem Reap Province.

The school was lacking books for its library. It’s important to promote reading in rural areas as it stimulates the mind and makes it more exciting to go to school.

Please donate to our Book Drive
to continue bringing joy to the children.

Donors

The students and mentors of Atlas Club of Riverside School have surprised us with another successful year long philanthropic drive in which they collected $4,000. They generously allowed us to use the funds where most needed and they will be allocated to our education program at TaBrok School.

The club was first introduced to us more than a decade ago via The Forgotten Intl. We take a special pleasure in wishing a very Happy 77th Birthday to Tom Navarro, the founder of The Forgotten Intl. You have certainly changed many lives and are an inspiration.
