February was American Heart Month, and last week, Los Angeles County Fire Department (LACoFD) nurse educators and firefighter paramedics trained 92 LACoFD Explorers in lifesaving CPR skills. In a cardiac emergency, any one of us could be the first on scene, which is why learning hands-only CPR is so important.

Immediate bystander CPR can double — or even triple — a person’s chance of survival. Take the step to always be prepared.

Scouting out in the community! Troop 168 proudly helped ring in the Lunar New Year by participating in the annual parade in Chinatown. The Scouts represented Scouting with enthusiasm and spirit as they joined the celebration and honored this vibrant cultural tradition.

HAT - Climbing Instructor Training

Level 2

The purpose of this course is to train people interested in teaching Scouts to climb and rappel at the Unit, District, or Council level. This group might include those interested in becoming Climbing Merit Badge Counselors, Camp Staff, and Scouters.

This course is very intense and will run late into the night. We will cover Scouting America's current National Policies associated with all climbing/rappelling activities, at the Unit, Council, and District levels, as outlined in the pamphlet entitled "Climb on Safely," and the National Camp Accreditation Program.
