Join us as we highlight issues pertaining to global hunger on the
this Shabbat, November 2-3
. (see the flyer)  We are asking members of our community to bring kosher rice and crackers for Family Table over the course of the weekend (not on Shabbat) and we will distribute action items related to helping the hungry around the globe. In addition, we will announce our participation in the Food Stamp Challenge the week of November 11 - 17!

This Shabbat Afternoon -- Minhah Discussion on Ballot Q2: Physician Assisted Suicide: This coming November, Massachusetts voters will have the opportunity to vote on Question 2, a ballot initiative formally called "Prescribing Medication to End Life". If the proposed law passes, it will, under certain circumstances, allow physicians in Massachusetts to prescribe medication to patients who seek to end their lives. Israeli Artisan & Jewelry Expo at Shuk Emunah!  This Sunday, November 4, 9:00 AM - 5:00 AM and Monday - Wednesday, November 5 - 7, 10:00 AM - 8:00 PM.  This year, the Shuk is featuring the finely crafted handmade work of Israeli jewelry designer Moshe Bar Kocva, and 40 other Israeli artisans including ceramics, sculpture, glass, metalwork, and more! As always, our Judaica Shop will be offering a wide array of Hanukkah supplies; candles, dreidels, gelt, toys, games, kids' crafts, and also, books! On Sunday, Nov 4 two local children's authors will read their recently published stories: 10:30 AM The Vanishing Gourds; a Sukkot mystery by Susan Axe-Bronk, and at 11:30 AM A Song for Papa Crow by Marit Menzin,  author and illustrator. Temple Emunah Pairs Up with TD Bank!  We have established with TD Bank an affinity program, in which TD Bank will contribute annually to us 0.5% of your checking account balance and 0.25% of your savings, money market, CD, and IRA balances. The Intergenerational Shabbat is coming!
Members of all ages are encouraged to attend this fun, annual Shabbat experience on Friday, November 9th. We will start at 6:00 with spirited services, followed by dinner with assigned seating including ice breakers, games, songs, and more! This event is co-sponsored by The Family Ed Committee, The Membership Committee, and The 55+ club. Shabbat Meditation is back! Once a month, a group of Temple Emunah members meets in The Pious Chapel to meditate as part of their Shabbat morning experience. This can include: guided meditations, chanting short prayers or niggunim (melodies), or a brief teaching on meditation or on the Torah portion. This is a peaceful and meaningful way to celebrate Shabbat with fellow community members. Our next Shabbat Meditation will be on Saturday, November 10. On Thursday, November 15 at 7:45 PM, join Rabbi Lerner and the Social Action Committee as he shares more about his experiences volunteering in Ghana this past summer with the American Jewish World Service, and opens a conversation about social action and social justice in our community and beyond. Simple Shabbat Supper: Friday, November 16th at 5:15pm.
Everyone is welcome to join us for our first Simple Shabbat Supper of the year, followed by services at 6:15pm with special time for kids with one of the rabbis during Ma'ariv. The simple but elegant dinner is hand-cooked by our own volunteers and put together with love! The cost is $5 / person (free for kids 0-3 years), with a $20 family cap. Usher in LimmudBoston with Shabbat-the REST of Limmud, with Dr. Anne Lapidus Lerner, on Friday Evening November 30, beginning at 6:15 with a Carlebach service, followed by dinner and Dr. Lerner speaking on "The Religious Quest of a Secular Writer: The Case of Yehuda Amichai".  Come to this special evening of music and learning.  The program is open to the public - Bring your friends!  Dinner is $25 for adults; $15 for children under 13.  To reserve your space, email office@templeemunah.org, or sign up using Chaverweb from the website. Are you interested in Jewish Meditation? Do you want to explore the world of Kabbalah and Hasidic thought? Join Rabbi Lerner for a monthly Jewish spirituality group. Combining study of Jewish texts with experiences such as meditation, we will discover traditional Jewish spiritual practices and delve into the feelings behind our heritage. The class will meet on Tuesday evenings (exact dates TBD), from 8:00 - 9:00 PM once a month and include a Meditative Ma'ariv service beforehand from 7:30-8:00 PM. Our first meeting will be on Tuesday, December 4 in the Large Chapel. Conversations with Rabbi Fel
~ Join Rabbi Fel on November 6 & 20, December 4 & 18,  from 9:30 - 10:30 AM for dynamic and exciting conversations about the weekly Torah portion, Jewish Holidays, Israel and more! The classes meet at Brookhaven at Lexington (1010 Waltham Street), and is open to all Temple Emunah Members. It's never to late to join the 30+ people who gather for every learning session!
 
 
Wednesday Mornings - Over a light breakfast, Rabbis Lerner and Fel teach about the Halakhah (Jewish legal) and spiritual aspects of prayer. Join us each week after minyan for breakfast and learning. Minyan is 7:00 AM-7:30 AM and breakfast follows from 7:35 - 8:15 AM.

Super Sunday, CJP's largest community service day, is November 4 at the JCC in Newton, 9:30 AM - 7:30 PM.  Adult volunteers are needed all day - come for an hour or stay the whole day!  Special opportunities include: Penny Harvest from 12:00 - 2:00 PM for children ages 2-5. The 24th annual Boston Jewish Film Festival (BJFF) will present 45 films from November 7-19.  Films from the U.S., Israel, and many other countries will screen at area theaters, some with discussions involving actors, directors and subjects. Most films are $12 general admission and $11 for seniors, students, and members of BJFF and other participating organizations. Joint Arab-Jewish Efforts to Promote Civic and Economic Equality in Israel: A Panel Discussion - November 14 7:30 PM at Congregation Kehillath Israel in

Ambassador Stuart Eizenstat, whose successful efforts to account for looted assets resulted in justice for many Holocaust survivors and victims' families, will present Maimonides School's annual lecture commemorating Kristallnacht, on Saturday Nov. 17, at 8:00 PM at the school, 34 Philbrick Road, Brookline. There is no charge, but an RSVP would be helpful to info@maimonides.org. Ambassador Eizenstat was a key aide to Presidents Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter.
