CUMMINS has partnered with Heliox to sell and service electric vehicle chargers in North America with two new fast-charging solutions—mobile and stationary DC chargers—designed for fleets transitioning to battery-electric vehicles. . . KENWORTH CHILLICOTHE OHIO PLANT received a Kenworth T680 Signature Edition with a 76-inch high roof sleeper, which represented the 750,000th truck produced by the plant, which opened in 1974. . . PENSKE TRUCK LEASING purchased just under 18 acres near Pecue Lane in Baton Rouge, Louisiana for $6 million. . . VOLVO TRUCKS announced that it has made a deal to sell 1,000 electric trucks between now and 2030 to Holcim, marking it as the largest commercial order to date for Volvo electric trucks. . . MHC TRUCK LEASING has opened a newly constructed facility in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to better serve its customers and employees with three pull-through service bays for up to six trucks, a wash bay and a full-service diesel/DEF fuel island. . . VELOCITY VEHICLE GROUP announced it will be the exclusive distributor for Rizon's battery-electric cabovers for urban delivery. . . DAIMLER TUCK is touting its advanced driver assistance systems’ growth in the commercial vehicle market by celebrating surpassing one million global Active Brake Assist sales.

Wells Fargo announced JEFF HOGAN joined the corporate and investment bank as co head of global mergers and acquisitions within the banking division. . . GreenPower Motor Company named TAYLOR FREELAND as senior manager of human resources.

NUMBERS

Bridgestone Americas recently broke ground on a 50,000-square-foot addition to its 200,000-square-foot Bridgestone Bandag plant in Abilene, Texas. The $60 million project will support six- and seven-day production schedules and add new mixing operations by January 2025. FULL STORY

Cummins announced it will invest $452 million in its Jamestown, New York facility to produce the industry’s first fuel-agnostic internal combustion engine platform. FULL STORY

The supply and demand dynamics in the freight market are beginning to recover, according to ACT Research. Its recent data suggests demand fundamentals improving and capacity starting to tighten may signal the industry is approaching the bottom of the freight cycle. FULL STORY

ACT Research reports that heavy-duty and medium-duty retail sales remain robust, and each rose double digits from April 2022 to April 2023. The heavy-duty unit per day rate, 1,431 seasonally adjusted, was its highest in nearly four years, and the medium-duty rate, 1,009 seasonally adjusted, was its highest in 18 months. FULL STORY
