When I first cracked my way out of the shell, I thought the world was magical: insects fly, colors mesh, both legs aren’t required for proper standing! The enchantment eventually faded with time, but sometimes it sparks back to life and sometimes you can find enchantment thrice in one day.
First, off we go to a home fit for Snow White — a beautiful English Tudor style nestled between towering Oak trees (aptly located at 5531 Red Oak Drive!) with all the trappings of a fairytale home: gables, a steep pitch, and half-timber framing accents.
Second, a place for Johnny Appleseed to rest his sowing seeds. A gorgeous example of Mid-century Modern cabin style, 1014 Sunmore Lane is a veritable woodsy wonderland, complemented by exquisitely vaulted ceilings and distinctly Californian natural light.
Our third and final stop is a castle for an Andalusian queen. The Lowry Estate is a to-the-letter Spanish revival with the type of craftsmanship demanded by royalty: inlaid tile work, Venetian plaster walls, wrought iron window bars.
If, like myself, you’re looking for a little bit of enchantment this August weekend, crack your way out of monotony’s shell and see something truly magical...
