| | | | Encinitas has been nationally recognized for coastal resilience | | |
The American Shore & Beach Preservation Association has named Encinitas and Solana Beach recipients of the 2025 Best Restored Beach Award for a major shoreline restoration project that rebuilt nearly 1.5 miles of eroded coastline.
This effort strengthens our beaches’ ability to buffer storms, reduce flooding impacts, and protect coastal bluffs, homes, and public access for the long term.
The project was made possible in part by $30 million in federal funding secured by Representative Mike Levin, along with continued leadership and support from the Encinitas City Council to prioritize beach maintenance and long-term coastal management.
This award highlights the economic, ecological, and safety benefits of restoring and protecting our shoreline for generations to come.

There are seven to nine seats available, with representation required from each of the City’s four districts. Commissioners will serve staggered three-year terms and meet every other month to help shape economic policy and initiatives that reflect Encinitas’ values and quality of life.
Interested community members are encouraged to apply online by Thursday, February 26, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. Applicants will be asked to briefly share their qualifications at the March 11, 2026 City Council meeting (date subject to change).
