October is Pastor Appreciation Month!
|
|
At the SYBA we appreciate our pastors and their wives - that is one reason for our pastor’s and wives’ dinner in October. I want to encourage our pastors to come with their wives, and I want to encourage the SYBA churches to show love to their pastors this month!
Your pastor makes many sacrifices and works many hours to minister to you and your family. October is a great time to show how much you care for your pastor so, how are you going to show your pastor how much you appreciate him this month?
Here are some ways to show your appreciation.
- Write a heartfelt note expressing your gratitude to him.
- Bless him with a gift card to his favorite restaurant or coffee shop.
- Provide yard work, childcare, or any other needed service.
- Buy a book or other resource that is on your pastor’s wish list.
- Bless him with a personal or family getaway.
- Give him a Sunday off (SYBA can help you find pulpit supply).
Remember to be praying for your pastor and his family - not just during October, but all year round.
And speaking of prayer, October also is the time that we have a week of prayer for our Association. Below in this newsletter you will find our prayer guide. I personally want to thank you for all your prayers and support throughout the year. It is so great to be on mission together with you!

If you have a praise report from an answered prayer, please share that as well — we will celebrate God’s grace and goodness with you!

A look back....
The year 1923 was the SYBA's Jubilee Year - its 50th anniversary! At this moment in time, the Association had 42 member churches, until 1927, when 16 churches withdrew to form the Rowan County Baptist Association.
This culminated the process of associations dividing into more geographically compact associations. Thus, the SYBA had formed from the Yadkin Association in 1873. The Mecklenburg Association was formed in 1886, and the Rowan in 1927.
Stay tuned for more information from each of our SYBA member churches, coming in future newsletters.

Volunteer at the Toy Store for Jesus!
SYBA Toy Store for Jesus was created to share the love of Jesus at Christmas.
Parents who struggle with finances may be concerned about how they will be able to give their children presents on Christmas morning. We hope to make Christmas joyful instead of stressful by providing toys for them to give to their children. Most importantly, we share the Gospel of Jesus Christ and pray with every family we serve.
Our goal is to build a relationship with families who come to Toy Store for Jesus and to introduce them to other SYBA ministries. If they are not attending a church, they are encouraged to become involved with a local SYBA church.
