Inclusion, Justice, and Spirituality

Our Shadow Rock Governing Board Worked Hard 8/12/23!

The Board met in the Multipurpose Room to discern the direction and the priorities of their work for the next year. They are excited about enhancing everyone's experience on Sunday morning through education, worship, and fellowship for all ages.

Seek out our board members and talk with them about their work on our behalf.

This Sunday at Shadow Rock

A big mid-week HOWDY, Shadow Rock Family! Even though the Valley temperatures are still 100+, we're staying cool and feeling good on Sunday mornings. Here's what to expect this week:

9:00 am

  • Spiritual Formation for Adults in the Multi-purpose Room. Topic is How and Why of Spiritual Connections. Do we shy away from the word "Christ"? How does this help and/or hinder your spiritual connection?
  • Childcare is in the Blue Room.
  • Spiritual Formation for Children will be in the Red Room.

10:15 am

Worship in the Sanctuary

11:15 am

Sermon Reboot (in the Narthex) is a time to talk back to the morning's worship ideas and experiences. Word About Life is when we let different people lead us we may find ourselves in wonderfully surprising places.

Call for Martini Glasses

Monet Davis hosted one of our most popular Pick-a-Parties. It involved martinis and a souvenir martini glass. She is asking to borrow your souvenir glass to create a sculpture for the art show in November. If you will let her borrow your glass for a short time it would be a great help. Contact Monet at [email protected].

Women's Retreat Opportunity

The Arizona Disciples of Christ Women’s Ministry is inviting all who identify as women in the UCC Southwest Conference to their annual fall retreat: Friday, September 8 - Sunday, September 10, 2023 at Chapel Rock Retreat Center in Prescott, Arizona.

The retreat leader is Rev. Katie Sexton, who you might know from her role as Executive Director of Arizona Faith Network. You might also recognize Wende Gonzales of the UCC Southwest Conference staff who will serve as song leader.

The keynote speaker is Rev. Carol Devine, the Director of Blessed Tomorrow, a coalition of diverse religious partners united as faithful stewards of creation, and Co-Director of Green Chalice for the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). She is an ordained pastor in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).

This retreat will focus on cherishing creation. Registration information is available here.
