Message from the President

Greetings from all of our team at Advent Lighthouse Ministries. I want to start this newsletter by wishing you and your families a very blessed Christmas and a Happy New Year, and to thank all of you for your prayers and financial support.

When you hear the word “gift,” what is the first thing that comes to mind? Gifts come in myriads of shapes and sizes, for different purposes, and for the young and the old. Everyone appreciates a good gift. Gifts given by the ones we love warm our hearts. I really love it when my wife gives me gifts…but what makes her gifts most precious is the love behind them. Every Christmas season the Christian world celebrates the greatest Gift from God to mankind—His Son Jesus Christ. People exchange gifts and celebrate the season and give thanksgiving and praise to God for His matchless Gift. The promise, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16 becomes even more precious and real when we appreciate it with the whole heart.

At Advent Lighthouse Ministries it is our earnest desire to extend this precious Gift of God’s dear Son to the Iranian and Afghan immigrants and refugees in the New England States of Massachusetts, Connecticut, and New York. The Iranian and Afghan people are a direct descendants of the Persian empire that was started and led by Cyrus the great who is mentioned in the Bible books of Ezra and Daniel. God used Cyrus to free His people Israel from the Babylonian captivity at a time when for all intents and purposes it appeared Israel was doomed to destruction. What makes this project so special is that the Iranian and Afghan people are considered the most receptive group of Muslims to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Therefore we have decided to call this endeavor “Project Persia.”

The time is right and the opportunities are tremendous. Some of the projects we are putting together will give us the tools necessary to make lasting friendships and leading individuals and families step by step to Christ. We are planning to visit centers and locations where these people reside. We will have boots on the ground and through benevolence and friendship ministry we intend to create opportunities for gospel outreach and evangelistic endeavors.

Your prayers and financial support are a vital part of our ministry and without them we could not go forward. Will you please consider asking the Lord how you can help us fulfill Christ’s great commission to the people of Persia in the New England area. Some of you may be able to send a one time gift and others of you may be able to contribute on a monthly basis, and still others would commit to pray for our ministry. No matter how you decide to support this mission we are forever grateful to you and praise God for your faithfulness.

In closing, I want to thank you, once again, for all you have done in behalf of Advent Lighthouse Ministries. I want to let you know that we will be praying for you as well and asking God to continue His blessings in your lives. What Jesus told us in Luke 21:28 is a promise we can count on: “look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.”

God’s richest blessings to you and your loved ones,

Shahin B.,
