Healing Commuities by Healing our Youth

Just because the temperature is starting to cool down, this doesn't mean that End Time Harvest Ministries is following suit. Our Wellness Ambassadors Leadership, Pathways to Career Success, and Port Towns Youth Council programs are revving up! We are so proud of our graduating Pathway to Career Success seniors because they have accumulated more than 3,600 service learning hours since joining the program and their hours are still mounting.  Please donate your time, talents and treasures to ETHM to help us continue our outstanding youth education and empowerment programs.

International Walk to School Day
PTYC Wellness Ambassadors walk Rogers Heights Elementary students to school

What do you call a march with 200 parents, students, teachers, municipal mayors, police officers and community members walking from Bladensburg High School (BHS) to Rogers Heights Elementary School (RHES) at 7:30am? A Walking School Bus of course! On October 9, Port Towns Youth Council Wellness Ambassadors joined in the fun and escorted students from BHS to RHES for International Walk to School Day.

When the crowd arrived at their final stop, they were greeted by Olympic Gold Medalist, Dominque Dawes, and Mr. Weavel, Kaiser Permanente's healthy mascot.  Students participated in a fun rally, and learned the four pedestrian safety tips and how to be pedestrian safety role models.  The International Walk to School Day is a global event that involves communities from more than 40 countries walking and biking to school on the same day.  The Walk to School Day at RHES was sponsored by Kaiser Permanente and Safe Routes to School as a part of their Thriving School Initiatives.

Project 450 Community Clean Up & UpCycle Your Life
PTYC engages in 5 hours of nonstop volunteering

PTYC Members were busy greening and cleaning their communities on Saturday, October 19. Students hit the pavement at 10am picking up trash along Route 450. In total, PTYC members and community volunteers collected 29 trash bags and cleared 53 storm drains along the highway 450/Bladensburg Road that connects three of the Port Towns.

Immediately after finishing the county clean up, PTYC members headed to Community Forklift, where they helped distributed fresh fruits and vegetables
for UpCycle Your Life. PTYC Parents and student volunteers, along with University of Maryland volunteers, enjoyed distributing food, helping out in the warehouse, and taking advantage of the many county services that were offered to county residents.  It was an educational and fun time.

Are You Ready to F.I.G.H.T.!?
PTYC members explore Fresh Innovative Great Hot Topics

During each Port Towns Youth Council meeting, students participate in a FIGHT! Why? Because the PTYC has Fresh Innovative Great Hot Topics where they passionately discuss current events. Monthly, Port Towns Youth Council members tackled complex issues. This month their FIGHT topic was, "Could the government shutdown been avoided" see their responses on their video!
