Weekly Update From World Academy
Dear Families,

Here we are in week two of our remote learning program and all is going exceptionally well with that. With the extensive preparation that all of the teachers have been and are continuing to put in, our students are benefiting greatly. So much fantastic feedback has been coming in that we are renewed in spirit and commitment to make this one of our finest hours. It is important that we all band together at every age level to keep supporting our teachers and the school so that we are able to slip right back into our old routines (with some new ones we have gained!!!) with our friends when this subsides. In the meantime we will be making sure we connect with all of you on a continuum, to give our updates and answer your questions, so we can work through this together. Coordinates will continue weekly, and we will be available to all in case you need us. We know some of you are dealing with some very serious issues as we are. Our hearts go out to you and please be assured we will try to help if we can.

Thank you, all, for your continuous support as we know, firsthand, how hard these times are. Consistency and routine are vital to keeping growth, development and sanity intact, and we are here to make sure all are maintained for your child and family.

Warm Regards,
Kathy and Lisa for all of us

A Note From Our School Counselor, Mrs. Hulfachor
As we continue to embark on the remote learning journey, I wanted to let everyone know that I am available to continue to support our students and their families remotely. I am meeting with all the students during grade level sessions to discuss ways we can positively support each other and ourselves. If you would like to connect with me individually, please feel free to send me an email, mhulfachor@worldacademynh.com

I have also created a Google site with helpful resources for you to use to navigate through these times of social distancing. Please see the link at the end of this message. Although physically apart, I want to assure you that our entire World Academy staff is here to support our students and families through their academic and social-emotional journey. If you have any questions, do hesitate to connect with me.

Straw Rocket Challenge
Here is the second STEM activity LEGOMAN Dan for our K-8 students to continue their engineering fun during this unique time. Have your student watch the video below for instructions on building his/her own straw rocket. Good luck and be careful with your creations!
Our students made some very creative mazes in last week's Lego project!
Remote Afterschool
We have launched our Remote Afterschool Program for K-8! Our dedicated Afterschool Team has committed to connecting with our students who are part of our extended care hours with daily Google Meets for each grade level! Check out their great video below about their fun, interactive program for our students!
We have already had great feedback about chatting with Miss Adrienne about Pokemon!
This beautiful poem was written about the current state of the world, inspired by Dr. Seuss.
Written by Patrick Hall
Retrieved from: Kansas Center for Career and Technical Education

"I imagine if Dr. Seuss were alive today, he'd write something like this:
The buildings were big and people would smile
And travel they would mile by mile.
But sick they become, in numbers it grew
Businesses worried, communities too.
Things stopped for a bit, the world slowed its roll
The virus has certainly taken its toll.
But what they then saw from slowing things down,
Is in fact they now had less reasons to frown.
Families now gathered, what game shall we play?
Pass me the blue crayon, give Mommy the grey.
Dad's home guys! He'll read us a book
then all of us together will cook.
The lungs of the planet caught a small break
less travel meant less pollution to make.
People did realize they'd all be OK
They don't need so much to get through the day.
Maybe this virus that caused so much stress
Showed the whole world that more can mean less."

We hope this gives us all HOPE and a smile.
Check out Mr. Michael's new video below that helps answer questions your children may have about COVID-19.
Thank Yous and Kudos
Thank you to Jeremy Tatem, who donated multiple hand sanitizer bottles, and to Kevin Heenan, who donated a plethora of cleaning supplies for us! We greatly appreciate your kindness!

Thank you to Advisory Board member, Todd Pollack in support of our Daddy/Daughter Dance...virtually.

Thank you to our families who are sending us hope in the form of supportive feedback every day. We truly feel we have a larger family working with us so that together we can support our children in the future!!

We have such bright students! Congrats!
Sarah StLawrence, a junior at Bishop Guertin, and a graduate of World Academy, was awarded MVP of the Bishop Guertin Varsity Gymnastics team for the 2019-20 season (through their virtual Sports Awards Ceremony last night). This award was due to her being the highest contributor of team points for the season. Sarah also qualified for the Regional Meet as an All-Around Competitor! Great job, Sarah!
Congrats to our alumna and current student at Lawrence Academy, Shyla Montgomery, who participated in the 2020 NEPSAC Class B Girls’ #Basketball All-Star game a couple weeks ago at Noble and Greenough School! Kudos, Shlya!
Seen Around Our 'World'
Remote Learning
We have been loving all the pictures of our students coming in! Our WA family will hopefully be able to rejoin together under one roof soon, but until then, we are committed to continuing our education of your children with the same level of high-quality curriculum, care, and dedication.
Please continue to send us your pictures for our weekly Coordinates!
Our Early Childhood teachers have been loving their Google Meets with students! It's been amazing to get such wonderful feedback from families of all levels about the curriculum that has been sent home to keep our students connected.

Our Enrichment Classes have been great! Our students are getting exercise outside, making music, creating art, and practicing their World Languages.
One of the unexpectedly fun parts of remote learning are the visitors! A huge hello to all pets, parents, stuffies, and siblings!
We love being able to see students using the Google Meet sessions and in pictures of them completing their projects and schoolwork. Keep up the great jobs, everyone!
Keep up the great work, teachers!! We couldn't do this without you!
We are in this together…
Try to have a safe ‘socially distanced” weekend!
