Cavaliers Set Records & The All Hail Match!
|
Be a part of setting a record!
Participate in this years ALL HAIL! Campaign.
All ALL HAIL! Campaign participants will receive the 2021
ALL HAIL! pin shown above..
Cavaliers set records, win championships and come through in the clutch. Serra's 4x100 team set the State division 4 record in 40.73 in 2013. The same year, Adoree' Jackson, set the State division 4 record at 25:00. The State Championships, CIF Championships etc are to numerous to list. (Click here to see the list.)
Last year when faced with the pandemic and faced with the cancellation of events, Serra Alumni launched The All Hail Campaign and, no surprise, the Cavalier Alumni came through and set a record of $281,319 in total Alumni donations for the 2019-20 year.
Alumni from most years pitched in including Ray Cobb from the first graduating class in 1953 to Alumni from 2019. They purchased ALL HAIL! Cards, bought their Alumni Tiles and donated in varying amounts to include 1 new member of the 5001 Club. (Click here to learn about the 5001 Club.)

The Times Are Still Not Normal...But Closer
|
The times are still not normal.. (see March 18 Newsletter.) Last year the target was 40K for the All Hail! campaign. An alumnus soon called and said he would match Fifty-Cents for every dollar raised up to 40k. The same Alumnus called this year and said he would match 50 cents for every dollar up to 80k.
We will determine what our target is to seta a new Serra record and report the amount to you in the next next newsletter.
Who qualifies for the match donation? Alumni and those who attended Serra and regard Serra as their high school school, parents of Alumni and Alumni from other Catholic high schools. (Notice Alumni match donors from BM and MC already listed in the left hand column).
All donors who give $61 or more will receive an ALL HAIL! Card and their ALL HAIL! pin. If you want an Alumni Tile like La Tasha Bell Pitts '95 (shown below pointing to her Tile with her daughter, Kennedy '25.) looking on.

Serra High School, the school that not only can, but does.
|
Last spring the pandemic forced Serra to "adjust." Serra's Administration and Faculty didn't blink. They took a Monday and planned their coursework for online delivery and began implementing online learning the next day. The teachers continued to analyze and upgrade the online curriculum throughout the year and through this year. All this time, they continued to plan for continuing classes on campus.
Last week Serra did a test run of in person learning with ASB and Life Team Members participating. (see pic above) Things worked. The students were happy to be on campus.
Beginning April 13, classes will continue to be available online for those not ready to return.. However, the students will be able to attend classes divided into two groups. One group will attend in person classes Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The second group will attend Thursdays and Fridays.
If you didn't read the last newsletter, "A Parent's letter to Serra at Easter", you can find out what kind of school Serra is and what kind of teachers Serra has by Clicking here to read it. Carla Bravo read it and wrote, "I concur." Remford Metoyer '70 commented, "That's what it's all about. Teaching and guiding these kids to be great. Congratulations to all the teachers and staff.
Jim Miller '54 reports that, "This gives me more ammunition to brag about Serra."
