For the  parents and families of St. Therese Chinese Catholic School

Dear Parents,

We had a busy month of graduation celebrations for our Early Childhood students and our 8th Graders - congratulations to all of the Class of 2019 graduates! We wish our 8th graders much luck as they leave St. Therese and move on to continue their academic careers in high school. Please come back to visit and share news of your progress with us!

During the summer months, the school will be busy with summer school, summer programs, and preparing for the coming school year. For both campuses, we are busy hiring dynamic teachers and staff, acquiring textbooks and supplies, and and in other ways preparing for the coming school year. The full roster of our faculty and staff for both campuses as well as other important dates will be shared with all parents in July. Don't forget - the first day of school is Tuesday, August 27, 2019.

We also continue to prepare for the transition to a two-campus school community. Over the summer, we will be bringing together members of both school boards and parent associations to help form a united community that represents both campuses.

Open enrollment at the St. Barbara campus continues and we will have open houses on July 9th and in early August for prospective families to learn more about St. Therese at the St. Barbara Campus. If you know family and friends who are interested, please encourage them to contact us! They can call the office at 312-326-2837 or email us at admissions@sttheresechicago.org - Mrs. Chan will be available throughout the summer to help families register with us.

I hope everyone has a happy, fun, and restful summer. Please encourage your children to make room in each day for reading - learning doesn't take a break!

Best,
Ms. Lisa Deborah Oi
Principal

PS - Check out the information below about the special Mass of Thanksgiving on June 30th at St. Therese. I encourage all families to attend!
Put Those Gently Used Uniforms to Good Use

Parents, before you toss your student's outgrown uniforms, consider donating them back to the school for our FREE Uniform Exchange

Drop off clean, gently used uniforms to either campus office by Monday, July 1st, and we will include the items in the Uniform Exchange at the St. Therese Campus running July 8 through July 31st (or as long as items last).
A few notes:
  • All grade level uniforms that are still within St. Therese School Early Childhood Dress Code or the St. Therese Grade School Dress Code may be included.
  • Please be sure that all items are carefully washed and folded.
  • Please do not donate torn/ripped clothing or items that need more than minor repair work (such as for a dropped hem line).
  • All items will be sorted and displayed at St. Therese School starting Monday, July 8th during Summer School hours.
  • ALL ITEMS WILL BE FREE for parents at both campuses.
We will also be selling School Spirit Wear at this time. Come and get geared up for the 2019-2020 School Year!
Congratulations Class of 2019!

Congratulations to our esteemed Class of 2019! We are so very proud of the young adults you have become and all that you have done to prepare yourselves for the next step in your journey. Good luck in high school and beyond - and be sure to keep in touch and share your email with us here so we can keep you in the loop!

SCHOOL IS OUT FOR THE SUMMER...
Summer Program and Office Hours Reminder

Our summer program runs from Monday, June 24th through Friday, August 2nd. The 5th Grade Boot Camp will be held on Thursday, August 8th.

The School Office will be open between 9:00am and 2:00pm during these camp days for registration, tuition activity, and other school business. Because staff summer hours do fluctuate, please call the school office at 312-326-2837 before paying a visit to be sure someone will be at the school to assist you.

The school building will be open between 8:30am until 5:00pm for students and staff who are attending camp.
Update On Our Second Campus

St. Therese will officially expand to a second campus as of July 1st, 2019. We are very excited to grow and welcome more students and their families into our Blue Ribbon Award-winning community!  We continue to recruit new students in grades Prekindergarten through 7th grade. We will have one class for each grade at the St. Barbara Campus, and enrollment opportunities remain in all classrooms.

Over the summer, we will be doing some much-needed upgrades to the technology infrastructure, some overall maintenance and organization of the facility, and work in the classrooms to prepare them to support our teachers and students this fall. As we have mentioned before, both campuses will be officially St. Therese Chinese Catholic School, and both campuses will be following the same academic curriculum and programs, the students will wear the same uniforms, and all of us will share the same school pride!

Summer is also our time to finalize plans for how the two campus communities will interact as one. Celebrating mass together, participating in extracurricular sports and classes, and sharing some of the many special school celebrations and activities are some of the areas in which we expect to see our students praying, working, and playing together.

Our School Board and the St. Barbara Board of Specified Jurisdiction met together, as did our SFA and the St. Barbara equivalent, the Ladies Guild to begin the work of planning together for the  2019-2020 School Year. This work will continue over the summer to bring the two communities together for a successful school year starting this fall.
