Dear friends:

I hope you're enjoying the late summer weather in whatever pocket of the world you find yourself!

As I've shared, Benson Executive Search is now part of Buffkin/Baker, and we'll be the centerpiece of the firm's new flagship HR Functional Practice.

A boutique lives on the people in it. That's always been our strength...and it's also the limit of what any boutique can do alone. I've always wanted more of those passionate people behind every search, for our clients and for our own team. When I looked at who Buffkin/Baker had already brought together, Frederickson Partners, The Human Capital Group, Gallagher Executive Search, I recognized some of the firms I'd respected. Those are the people I wanted standing with us.

For everyone reading this, the practical version is short. If you're hiring, you get the same team with more depth behind it. If you're thinking about what's next in your own career, we can see further than we could last year. And if you've been part of this network for a while, nothing about how we work with you changes.

More on the practice below.

Search on,

Alice

HR & People Leadership

You've built every other team. This practice is built for your team.

Buffkin/Baker has spent the last several years assembling four of the country's HR-focused search boutiques: Frederickson Partners, The Human Capital Group, Gallagher Executive Search, and most recently Benson Executive Search. Four firms, one national practice, focused entirely on the HR function.

The people who lead it have lived HR careers. That matters at the moment you're hiring, because the difference between a resume that looks right and a leader who holds up in your environment isn't visible from the outside.

Most of our work starts at an inflection point: a CHRO to lead AI-driven workforce transformation, a Head of Talent Acquisition who can scale hiring through hypergrowth, a People leader to build the infrastructure for a founder-led company that never had time to create. The question is rarely "who's available." It's "who has done this specific thing, in this specific condition, and would they take the call."

What this flagship HR Practice delivers:

  • Enterprise-wide search for CHRO, CPO, and senior HR leadership roles
  • More than 3,500 completed HR leadership searches
  • 100+ years of collective HR functional experience
  • Depth across the full function: Talent, Total Rewards, Employee Experience, HR Technology and Operations, Talent Acquisition, HR Business Partner, DEI
  • Relationships across industries and geographies, built over decades

Blog: The HR Operations Role

Is Rapidly Evolving

One of the most dramatic changes inside HR is happening in HR Operations.

Today’s HR Operations leaders need to be deeply strategic, capable of seeing around corners and anticipating how technology will reshape the employee experience and workforce development. For CPOs and CHROs: the HR Operations job description you used three years ago will attract the candidate you needed three years ago.

A Final Word - Growth!

If there is one thing HR professionals know, it's that change is inevitable. Whether it's technology or government policy, we're required to acknowledge, adapt, and then act (and maybe not always in that order). As we enter this new chapter with Buffkin / Baker, we're reminded that change can be an opportunity for growth and innovation. We're ready for what lies ahead, and we can't wait to bring you along for the ride!
