Back to School!

It's that exciting time of year when families gear up for the return to school and kids get to meet their teachers and see friends. Through the generosity of many donors, Family Promise held a Back-to-School Fair that provided school supplies, pajamas, coats, shoes, and more! One mom's sentiments: "I honestly don't know how we would afford to get what my kids need for school, and I am so grateful that Family Promise is always there for us."
The excitement was contagious and even little ones not yet in school were able to leave with a fun surprise! We wish all of the families a wonderful school year!
Birthday Celebrations at Promising Solutions

What better way to welcome the end of summer than with a multi-birthday celebration! Many of the residents of the women's campus, Promising Solutions, were delighted to have a special day to celebrate their birthdays. Organized by Family Promise's Savannah Voelbel, Promising Solutions Program Coordinator and Alanna Angulo, Outreach Case Manager, the women enjoyed some special treats and a fun time together.

Happy Birthday to our lovely guests!
A New Home for Jackson and His Boys

Jackson, a single dad of four children, has reason to celebrate. After being in the Motel Shelter Program with his children for seven months, he is excited to be living in his new home with his family. The occasion is especially meaningful to him as he has struggled with homelessness since he was a child.

Jackson and his mom participated in another shelter program over 10 years ago, but were never successful in obtaining long-term, stable housing. Upon entering our shelter program in January, Jackson very quickly began financial literacy and budgeting classes, applied for TANF/SNAP (food stamps) and housing vouchers, and received assistance in paying down debt. Eventually, Jackson was able to secure a three-bedroom apartment in Sussex County!

When Jackson and his mother saw the apartment and the landlord signed the rental approval papers, both mom and son began to cry. He stated that he is “excited to start this next journey with his boys and is thankful that Family Promise gave him a chance.” Best wishes to Jackson and his family!
