Career Development at Our School Library

This quarter, our school librarian Dr. Phang organized a career unit rotating through different career fields such as engineering, music and food industries. There were many smiling faces as our students with autism designed restaurant menus as part of the culinary careers session!
Planes Take Flight

Students used their engineering skills to design and create paper airplanes for their Forces and Motion unit. They had a great time testing their airplane models and seeing which classmate’s airplane could fly the farthest.
MANSEF Summer Enrichment Scholarship

Two students from The Foundation Learning Center were honored for their amazing school achievements with the Summer Enrichment Scholarship through the Michael Cardin Scholarship Fund! Each year, the Maryland Association of Nonpublic Special Education Facilities (MANSEF) presents scholarships to help hardworking students pursue academic or enrichment activities. Our students are two of 37 special education students in the state to receive this scholarship and will be using the funds to attend the summer camp of their choosing. We are so proud of them as they continue to explore and learn about their special areas of interest!
End of the Year Poem

FLC has a new poet in town! Our seventh grade student wrote a wonderful poem about his memories with his class and the anticipation for the upcoming school year. He was able to capture the sentiment of this fantastic school year perfectly!
Celebrating Our Promoting Students

In June, we celebrated our students’ transition to the next grade at our promotion ceremonies! The day was filled with touching moments as family members, friends and staff celebrated their hard work. Students had a blast enjoying songs, poems, and even a bit of dancing as we honored their accomplishments. 
Welcome to High School

We are so proud of our six students who promoted to high school this summer! All year long, they worked hard to accomplish their academic and personal goals with the help of our amazing staff. We were honored to showcase their many accomplishments during their time here at The Foundation Learning Center and look forward to them joining our high school program this fall!
News for Our Subscribers:

On Saturday, July 22nd join us for a free Back to School Drive event at The Foundation School in Largo, located at 1330 McCormick Drive Largo, Maryland! From 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM, we will be collecting school supplies and basic needs for our students to start the new school year strong. Come and enjoy some light refreshments, a moon bounce, and face painting, courtesy of our friends at Staff Vengers!
