Joey and his Service Dog find Housing
and Happiness with Help from the HSC
Joey C. first came to the Campus in November of 2016. He had been living out in the desert in Mesa and in various encampments. He was struggling with untreated mental health symptoms and was self-medicating with illicit drugs. Joey worked hard to get connected to CBI for mental health and addiction but lost touch with services when his life circumstances changed yet again. Fast forward to 2019, Joey came into the Lodestar Day Resource Center and our staff recognized him right away. We were able to get him quickly reconnected to services with CBI and Joey was housed before the holidays in his new apartment. He also received dental care and a whole new smile from Brighter Way Dental Center. Joey and his service dog Rocky are happy and healthy in their new place and Joey has started volunteering to give back to the community. We're all so proud of Joey!
