The count of votes is taken from the Elections BC web page highlighted in the next sentence. A copy of the relevant PDF report can be seen here.

The count of rejected ballots is taken from the Excel version of the Interim Statement of Votes that is linked from this Elections BC web page. The link will eventually be superseded by the soon-to-be-released Statement of Votes.

Several days before the October 24 Election Day I prepared a Voter Guide to assist citizens in all 87 ridings who wanted to give their vote to an MLA candidate who favours legislation to allow the voluntary formation of 20 charter schools. Such an MLA candidate needed to have demonstrated support in their own campaign or by representing a Party with charter school and/or parental choice policies.

Recently I updated the Voter Guide with the votes earned by each of the 41 endorsed MLA candidates. I also added the number of rejected ballots reported for each riding without an endorsed MLA candidate.

The Voter Guide organizes the 87 electoral districts geographically rather than alphabetically into 5 areas with 14 regions.

The five geographic areas are:
  • Island - from Victoria to Port Hardy - 2 regions
  • Burrard - from Powell River to Port Moody, along Burrard Inlet - 3 regions
  • Fraser - south of the Fraser River, and Valley, Richmond to Hope - 3 regions
  • Interior - Okanagan, Kamloops, Kootenays - 3 regions
  • North - from Prince Rupert through the Cariboo to Fort St John - 3 regions

This updated Voter Guide can be seen at: tinyurl.com/BCvoterguide

I prepared an info-graphic of the vote and rejected ballot statistics. It's shown below in the Facebook section.
Social Mavrik history - legislative petition - 2019
The legislative petition for 2019 was titled "Initiative to allow voluntary formation of 20 charter schools".

The legislation proposed for British Columbia was modelled on the school act that became law in Alberta in 1994, 27 years ago.

More history - push back against
teacher strikes in 2019 and early 2020
The push back campaign focused on the instability of the education system. Examples were the strikes in Saanich, British Columbia and throughout Ontario. And the strike vote that was taken in Saskatchewan.

The educational stability of charter schools was highlighted.

More history - endorsing leadership hopefuls for the Conservative Party of Canada - 2020
Our members drove the endorsements in the same way that our members drive the actions of the Social Mavrik Federation, by 80% majority vote unless tied.

Half of the members supported Leslyn Lewis and half Derek Sloan.

Current and just finishing - endorsing MLA candidates in BC's snap election - 2020
Forty-one MLA candidates were endorsed as already described in this message.

Coming soon - legislative petition - 2021
The legislative petition for 2021, which has 100% support from Social Mavrik members, will address voting opportunities in provincial elections.

I will distribute an email announcement on the same day that Elections BC makes the petition official by placing an ad in the BC Gazette and in the Vancouver Sun.

Some of the people receiving this June 8th message are only interested in education topics and may not be sent the petition announcements. If you think this might apply to you but you want to receive petition announcements, please confirm with me by email.
