Endorses Derek Merrin
for Congress
Ohio Value Voters is pleased to announce the official endorsement of Derek Merrin for Congress in the State of Ohio.
The Board of Ohio Value Voters has endorsed Derek Merrin based on his strong record as a former member of Ohio’s General Assembly. During his time in office, Merrin was a leading advocate for pro-family policies and a vocal defender of parental rights, children’s safety, and traditional values.

Among the key legislation he sponsored was the SAFE Act, a landmark bill that prohibited gender reassignment and mutilation surgeries on minors. The bill also ensured the integrity of women’s and girls’ sports by prohibiting biological males from competing in female categories. Despite Governor Mike DeWine’s veto, the legislature overrode the decision, and the bill became law. Merrin also co-sponsored legislation—now law—that prohibits biological males from entering women’s restrooms and locker rooms in Ohio’s public schools and universities.
A consistent pro-life leader, Derek Merrin has stood against the promotion of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) ideologies and Comprehensive Sex Education (CSE) in Ohio’s public schools.
“Derek Merrin has had a life of public service,” said John Stover, President of Ohio Value Voters. “He was first elected to City Council at the age of nineteen and became Mayor just two years later. As a State Representative, he championed legislation that protected families and promoted the well-being of children. We are confident that as a member of Congress, Derek Merrin will be a strong ally of President Donald Trump and advance the America First agenda.”
Stover continued, “The election of Derek Merrin is critical in 2026, for the nation. We cannot go back to the failed policies of the democrats with high inflation, open borders, deficit spending, and the embracing of socialism.”
