Rachel Zenzinger for Colorado Senate District 19
Rachel Zenzinger
Colorado Senate Candidate
April 10, 2016
Grateful for endorsements from Perlmutter, Lamm

We think it is worth more than just a passing note that this campaign has the endorsement of a couple of the most highly respected politicians in this state's history: U.S. Congressman Ed Perlmutter and former Gov. Dick Lamm and his wife, Dottie!

Considering how hard those folks have worked on behalf of our citizens for so many years, I am immensely flattered to know that they are willing to recommend to voters that I am the best choice to represent the residents of District 19 in the Colorado Senate.

From Congressman Perlmutter: "I'm proud to support Rachel Zenzinger for the State Senate. Rachel is going to fight for the people of District 19, and the outcome of this election is critical to the future of our state."

Thanks to Congressman Perlmutter, and Gov. and Mrs. Lamm for their confidence!

We think it's important for voters to know the kind of support that we have in this campaign, and we will be keeping track of the names of everyone who is willing to make this information public. If you would like to add your name to the list of supporters, please send a note to RachelforColorado@gmail.com.

Sheet Metal Workers tour

One of the best things about being a political candidate is that I get so many opportunities to acquaint myself with various people and organizations in the community.

The most recent opportunity was a tour of the Colorado Sheet Metal Workers Joint Apprenticeship and Training Institute. Thanks to Training Director John Fleck, who led the tour and gave several candidates a solid understanding of the good work that they do at the institute. A side benefit: I got a chance to try my hand at some spot-welding in the construction of a mini-tool box.

But the main take-away for me was the appreciation for the role that the institute plays in our workforce development. We end up with a lot of skilled, young workers who play a crucial part in this state's economy, and I'm thankful for the direct benefit to the community.
Desperate campaign tactic

I was overwhelmed and gratified by the large number of campaign "scouts" who alerted me to the sudden and puzzling appearance of my opponent's yard signs - seven months before anyone will ever have a chance to act upon them one way or another.

The question I answered repeatedly: "Why would she feel so desperate about the condition of her campaign that she would make such an unconventional (and illogical) decision to engage this strategy at this time?"

Well, the answer is in the question. It relates to the level of desperation. This is not a good environment for the extremist politics that she has established in the State Senate for the last two years, and she knows that extremism won't play well at the polls.

And yes, the Rachel for Colorado campaign will have yard signs, but we'll erect them at a more appropriate time. Meanwhile, if you do want to get prepared for those signs, contact us at RachelforColorado@gmail.com, and we will put you on the list. Also, we're

Volunteer event May 1

The roll-up-your sleeves portion of the campaign begins in earnest this month, and we will celebrate May 1 with a fundraising event for volunteers. We will have refreshments, we'll discuss the strategy of the campaign, and we will happily accept any donations that you would like to make to the campaign! or details, contact us at  RachelforColorado@gmail.com. We hope to see you there!
Clean-up event moved

We have had a good response to our plans for the Westminster Cleanup event May 14, and we are still accepting volunteers (we might have unlimited capacity!). Please note that the volunteer party/BBQ afterward has moved to the Irving Street Park at 74th and Irving. The Westminster Pride Day starts around 8:30 a.m. at Little Dry Creek Trail just south of the Kaiser clinic on Sheridan. Please send an email to RachelforColorado@gmail.com if you would like to join us. We'll take a photo of the Zenzinger Team for use in the June newsletter and on Facebook.
Volunteer opportunities

If you would like to add your name to our list of campaign workers, please let us know that you are available, and what type of volunteer work you would like to do.

We need canvassers, yard sign people, callers, office workers, etc. Send an email to RachelforColorado@gmail.com. If you specifically enjoy walking door-to-door and meeting voters, we have immediate opportunities every weekend from now through Election Day, with shifts beginning 9 a.m. on Saturdays and 11 a.m. on Sundays.
Most timely form of help

What do we really need most right now at this point in the campaign? Cash! If you plan to contribute, this would be an ideal time. If you have already contributed and plan to contribute more, this is an ideal time! Individuals are limited to donations of $400 for this particular campaign. If you contributed $400 in the last campaign, and if you want to do it again, please do! Go to RachelforColorado.com and click on the "contribute" button. Thank you!
Donations

Every important political campaign these days requires significant funding, and this one is no exception. We need to find a way to pay for brochures, direct mail pieces, advertisements and other tools to help make voters aware of their choices. Please consider making any level of contribution to the "Rachel Zenzinger for Colorado" campaign, and help me get elected in 2016.
