Energy Alberta has reached an important milestone in the development of the proposed Peace River Nuclear Power Project, as the Project moves into the next phase of Canada’s federal regulatory process. 

The collaboration reflects a shared interest in understanding how an expanded Canadian nuclear energy sector could play an important role as Canada faces a surge in electricity demand.

Tracy Primeau is a former nuclear operator and industry leader with more than three decades of experience in Canada’s nuclear sector. A proud member of the Nipissing First Nation, she recently facilitated an Indigenous learning session in the Peace Region focused on building knowledge and capacity around nuclear energy and the Canadian nuclear industry.  

Water is one of our most important natural resources - and protecting it is central to how Energy Alberta is approaching Project development. From early planning through to operations, careful water management will be built into every step, with a clear focus on safeguarding the Peace River watershed and the communities and ecosystems that depend on it.

From Classroom to Grid: How Students Are Driving the

Energy Conversation Forward

The future of energy in Western Canada is already taking shape - not just in boardrooms or project sites, but in classrooms filled with curious and forward-thinking students.



At a recent event hosted at the University of Calgary, that future was on full display. Students from across engineering, environmental studies and policy programs came together to explore one of the most important questions facing the region today: how to build an electricity system that is reliable, affordable and lower in emissions.
