Only Working Group 6 has met since our last newsletter. This week's session was on Climate Change and Grid Resiliency. On Wednesday, WG6 heard presentations from Tom Skilling, WGN's Chief Meteorologist, and James Breitkreitz, Risk Engineering Executive Technical Director at Zurich North America. Tom shared how the changing climate is impacting weather patterns and its impact on property, humans, and the economy. James presented on an insurers perspective on the need for a resilient power infrastructure. A group discussion followed on the risks and challenges facing energy demand, generation, distribution and grid infrastructure; what the potential economic, social and environmental impacts from climate change were on Illinois' grid; and how can we address these issues and what do policy makers need to implement those solutions.

Working Group 4 has issued the initial draft outline for topics for the WG4 report. I'll be soliciting comments to the outline soon. I want to remind members of the importance of engaging in the NextGrid process. This process is poised to impact the regulatory and economic arenas of Illinois' energy landscape. Any feedback is appreciated.
