Three Hours, Two Classes, and a Lot of Heart: Cat Shelters Built by Students

Students recently took part in a fast-paced, one-day engineering challenge with a very special purpose: building shelters for the stray cats that live behind our campus 🐾. Working across two class sections and just three hours, students planned, built, and tested small cat houses designed to give our furry visitors a safer, warmer place to rest.

After construction was complete, the shelters were placed outside and filled with hay to help keep the cats warm and protected. The project blended creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork with compassion and real-world impact. It was a powerful reminder that engineering is not only about building things, but also about serving others.

If you happen to see the shelters around campus, we invite you to take a moment to admire the students’ work and share a kind word with them. Their care, effort, and big hearts made this project truly special.

From Robotics to the Field: Students Create Custom Woodside Soccer Jerseys

FRC Spirit Team leads and members of our VEX Robotics program recently put their creativity and technical skills to work in support of our athletic department. Using the school’s Cricut machine and heat presses, students designed and applied Woodside branding to the school’s new soccer jerseys.

This project gave students a real-world opportunity to practice design, production, and teamwork while contributing directly to campus life. It also highlighted the way our engineering and robotics spaces support projects far beyond competition season.

We extend a heartfelt thank you to Woodside for their generous donation to our athletic department. Their support helped make these new jerseys possible and strengthened the connection between our community partners, students, and school programs.
