Innovation on Display: Senior Exhibition Take Center Stage at Energy

Energy Institute High School recently hosted an impressive showcase of Senior innovation, featuring 43 original projects that highlighted creativity, engineering, and real-world problem solving. From this talented pool, five finalist teams advanced to present their work in the campus TED Talk space, where they were evaluated by a panel of industry professionals from leading organizations such as Cheniere Energy, Oxy, Shell, and Exxon.

The top projects reflected both technical skill and a clear focus on improving everyday life. The first-place team, Fusion Four, developed a storage solution for hot hair tools designed to prevent burns. Their device can safely hold tools reaching temperatures up to 500 degrees without melting or deforming, offering a practical solution for everyday safety. Their hard work earned them each a $1500 scholarship towards a new laptop to take with them to college.

The second-place team tackled air quality in classrooms by creating a VOC filter for 3D printers. Using titanium dioxide and UV light, their system breaks down harmful chemicals into safer byproducts, helping create a healthier environment for students working with advanced technology.

Earning third place, another team partnered with Moonflower Farms, a local hydroponics startup, to design a predictive plant growth system. Their innovation included a camera gantry that captures images and analyzes plant development over time, comparing growth to environmental conditions. The project has already seen success as part of a pilot program this year.

In addition to the overall winners, this year students also competed for the People's Choice Awards where all attendees were able to vote for their favorite teams in three categories. Congratulations to CMD won the TikTok Shop Best Seller Award, Monocrux who won the Nobel Peace Prize Award, and GBL who won the Shark Tank Award. These students each received a $500 scholarship!

This event showcased more than just projects, it highlighted the power of student thinking, collaboration, and real-world application. With support from industry experts and a commitment to meaningful innovation, Energy students continue to prove that their ideas are not only creative, but impactful.

Senior Honors Night 2026

Energy Institute High School honored the achievements, character, and impact of the Class of 2026 on Tuesday, April 26th. Families, teachers, and peers gathered to recognize a senior class that has not only excelled academically, but also led, served, and created lasting change within the Energy community.

The program started off with the Firefly Awards where teachers are invited to select a student to highlight for various ways that they shine from within. Next Academic Honors were given recognizing students who were ranked in the Top 15%, National Merit students, and multiple special scholarship recipients. After honoring the Senior Student Government, students were recognized for standing out in the classroom for for specific soft skills such as the Ted Talk Award, the Presidential Award, the Grit Award, the Game Changer Award, and more. The overall winners in each of the categories received a $2000 scholarship. In memory of Vanessa Baeza, one student received the Be the Big! Award for being a friend to everyone and always being the bigger person. The final award of the evening was the Tesla Award where seniors were honored for their high level of academic achievement, contributed to the school in extraordinary ways, and embodied the twenty-first century skills that are so important to the mission and vision of Energy.

Senior Awards Night was more than a ceremony. It was a powerful reminder that success comes in many forms. Whether through academic excellence, leadership, creativity, or quiet determination, the Class of 2026 has left an indelible mark on Energy Institute High School. As they prepare to step into their next chapter, they carry with them not only accolades, but the values and vision that will shape the future.

Signing Day Welcomes the Next Generation of Energy Leaders

Energy Institute High School opened its doors on April 20th for Magnet Signing Day and nearly 200 families showed up to say “yes” to their future. The campus buzzed with excitement as newly accepted students officially committed to joining the Energy community.

The event was a relaxed, come-and-go experience where families explored the campus at their own pace. Students connected with peers, met current student leaders, and visited interactive stations like Robotics, Makerspace, and Club Rush. A digital “passport” guided them through the experience, encouraging exploration and discovery along the way.

Laughter echoed through the courtyard, conversations filled the hallways, and proud moments were captured at the Energy Pride Wall, which turned out to be the highlight of the night. Principal Lori Lambropoulos took pictures and greeted every new family at her station: The Energy Pride Wall. For many families, it was their first real glimpse into what life at Energy will feel like; innovative, welcoming, and full of possibility.

Signing Day was more than an event; it was the beginning of a journey. With curiosity sparked and commitments made, the Class of 2030 is officially on the path to becoming the next generation of Energy innovators.

One Last Dance: Prom 2026

On April 24th senior students and their guests stepped into an unforgettable evening as Prom 2026 transformed the night into a celebration of style, friendship, and milestone moments. Dressed to impress, students arrived ready to enjoy a night filled with music, dancing, and memories that will last long after graduation.

The atmosphere was electric from start to finish. Laughter echoed across the room and cameras flashed as friends captured the moments as students danced and celebrated together. Prom provided a well-deserved opportunity for seniors to pause, reflect, and enjoy the company of classmates after years of hard work and shared experiences.

We would also like to thank the Senior Student Government and Senior Committee members for all of their handwork to plan prom. The seniors would like to thank the current juniors who are the rising senior student government students who decorated for prom, too.

AP Testing - Week One Schedule

All exams follow College Board testing window. The testing times below are for standard time testers. Students with a College Board-approved extended time accommodation will receive time and a half, so their afternoon exam will extend well beyond the school day.

✅ How You Can Help Your Student Prepare

Review these important logistics with your student ahead of test day:

Your student must arrive with a fully charged Chromebook
Morning Exam Arrival Time: 7:40 AM
Afternoon Exam Arrival Time: 11:40 AM
Students must know their College Board username and password
All afternoon testers will attend first lunch on their exam day
If your student is taking an afternoon exam, please ensure they have a ride home, as they will likely miss the bus

🚫 Items Not Permitted in the Testing Room

For exam security, students may not bring any of the following items:

Cellular devices, smart watches, or smart glasses
Books, compasses, whiteout, highlighters, mechanical or colored pencils
Scratch paper, guides, maps, or rulers
Food or drink
Ear plugs
Hoodies

We understand that AP testing can be a demanding experience, and your support is greatly appreciated. Thank you for helping your student arrive prepared, on time, and confident. We are proud of their hard work and wish them the very best during testing week.

Senior Information

SENIOR ANNOUCEMENTS:

Senior Trip:

The Class of 2026 will take their senior trip to Camp Forest Glen on Monday, June 1st, from 7:30-3:00. Students will engage in a day of reflection, team-building, and discovery, as they celebrate their last week as Energy Institute students.

In order for your student to attend, a few specific forms are required:

1. Permission slip, accessible digitally in the post on ParentSquare or by pdf here.

2. $25 payment to cover the costs of renting the space and providing lunch for students on the trip,

payable via SchoolPay here.

3. If your child has dietary restrictions, you must input them on this form for the camp. Our location is

"Lakeside," the name of our group is "Energy Institute HS," and the date of our arrival is "06/01/2026."

4. If your child has medication they will need to take on the trip (during normal school hours), fill out this

document and return to Mr. Champion.

Paper copies of the permission slip and dietary form will be available in Ms. De La Rosa's classroom and Mr. Champion's office, if needed. All forms can be turned in to Mr. Champion or to a senior teacher (Mr. Mark/Mr. Platon/Ms. De La Rosa). The deadline for all forms to be submitted is next Thursday, May 14th.

Graduation:

Energy's graduation is scheduled to hold graduation on Saturday, June 6th at 3:00 PM at Barnett Fieldhouse (6800 Fairway). Students will receive 17 tickets each after senior check-out.

Class Rings, Yearbook Ads, Graduation Announcements, etc.

Seniors can purchase their class rings/jewelry, yearbooks and yearbook recognition ads, graduation announcements and Class of 2026 spirit wear through Jostens here: Energy Institute Senior Website with Jostens. Don't forget - you do not need to purchase a yearbook, cap/gown, or tassel.

College Acceptances:

You will need to upload your acceptances into SchooLinks and complete the google form below. Here are your steps:

Update result on SchooLinks (accepted, denied, waitlisted, deferred)
If accepted, upload a screenshot (or photo if paper acceptance) on SchooLinks. Make sure the screenshot shows your name, the college name, and the verbiage of an acceptance. It can be a picture of a letter or a screenshot of a congratulatory email.
Complete the google form sharing the good news with us so we can post it – www.tinyurl.com/IGotIn26.

Merit Aid/Financial Aid:

Make sure you are taking screenshots of all merit aid and financial aid offers. This will need to be uploaded into SchoolLinks as well. You can do this now and will need to do this before April 24th. These offers disappear if not accepted, so it's important you screenshot them now as they will not be there if you wait until later in the Spring.
