Bus Riders Need to Complete the Bus Transportation Request Form

K-12 general education students attending their zoned or magnet schools are eligible for bus transportation if they live two or more miles from their school, with pick-up and drop-off at designated HISD bus stops.

To request transportation for your student, please complete the transportation request form. Bus routes are usually released in August.

HISD strives to provide eligible students attending a school of choice a bus stop that is within 3 miles of their home. In the case that a student attending a school of choice cannot be transported to school in less than 90 minutes from a stop within 3 miles of their home, HISD will provide a bus stop that is further than 3 miles from the student’s home to limit transport time.

AP Make-up Testing

AP Late Testing will take place May 18–22, 2026. Students testing during the late testing window have received an email from Ms. Harris with their specific testing details.

Please note that students who miss their scheduled late exam will be charged the $40 AP drop fee.

Students should report to the Cohort 5 testing area 20 minutes prior to their scheduled exam. Afternoon exams will finish after the dismissal bell, so students should arrange for a ride home.

Meet the Newly Elected EIHS NHS Chapter Officers

On Friday, May 1, the National Honor Society hosted its first Candidate Forum for the 2026–2027 officer elections in the BP Hub. Students running for office had the opportunity to meet with members of the NHS general body, share their ideas, discuss goals for the upcoming year, and explain how they plan to strengthen the EIHS chapter through leadership, scholarship, service, and character.

Following the forum and election process, the EIHS NHS Chapter proudly announced its newly elected officers for the 2026–2027 school year:

Chick-fil-A and EIHS Students Celebrate Mr. Duong’s Impact

The EIHS community recently celebrated one of its own in a big way! The Chick-fil-A location at 59 & Kirby honored EIHS teacher Vuong Duong with a special Teacher of the Year basket, award, and gifts after students voted him as their top choice for the recognition.

Chick-fil-A agreed with the students’ decision and helped make the celebration even sweeter by providing Mr. Duong’s students with Chick-fil-A coupons for ice cream and other treats. The surprise brought smiles, excitement, and well-deserved appreciation for a teacher who continues to make a meaningful impact in the classroom each day.

Congratulations to Mr. Duong on this outstanding recognition and thank you for the dedication, encouragement, and positivity you bring to EIHS!

Exploring History and Belonging Through Art

On Wednesday, April 29, students in the AP African American Studies course visited the Houston Museum of African American Culture for a docent-guided tour of Eden, a powerful exhibition by contemporary artist Clarence Heyward.

The exhibit explores themes of identity, belonging, resilience, and the African American experience through richly layered paintings and symbolic imagery. Inspired by ideas of paradise, exile, and survival, Eden challenges viewers to think deeply about history, environment, and the meaning of home.

During the visit, students engaged in thoughtful discussion and analysis as they explored the exhibition’s visual storytelling and cultural themes. The experience connected classroom learning to contemporary art and gave students an opportunity to examine how artists use creativity to explore complex social and historical ideas.

Experiences like this continue to expand learning beyond the classroom, encouraging students to engage critically with culture, history, and the world around them.

Senior Information

SENIOR ANNOUCEMENTS:

Senior Trip:

The Class of 2026 will take their senior trip to Camp Forest Glen on Monday, June 1st, from 7:30-3:00. Students will engage in a day of reflection, team-building, and discovery, as they celebrate their last week as Energy Institute students.

In order for your student to attend, a few specific forms are required:

1. Permission slip, accessible digitally in the post on ParentSquare or by pdf here.

2. $25 payment to cover the costs of renting the space and providing lunch for students on the trip,

payable via SchoolPay here.

3. If your child has dietary restrictions, you must input them on this form for the camp. Our location is

"Lakeside," the name of our group is "Energy Institute HS," and the date of our arrival is "06/01/2026."

4. If your child has medication they will need to take on the trip (during normal school hours), fill out this

document and return to Mr. Champion.

Paper copies of the permission slip and dietary form will be available in Ms. De La Rosa's classroom and Mr. Champion's office, if needed. All forms can be turned in to Mr. Champion or to a senior teacher (Mr. Mark/Mr. Platon/Ms. De La Rosa). The deadline for all forms to be submitted is next Thursday, May 14th.

Graduation:

Energy's graduation is scheduled to hold graduation on Saturday, June 6th at 3:00 PM at Barnett Fieldhouse (6800 Fairway). Students will receive 17 tickets each after senior check-out.

Class Rings, Yearbook Ads, Graduation Announcements, etc.

Seniors can purchase their class rings/jewelry, yearbooks and yearbook recognition ads, graduation announcements and Class of 2026 spirit wear through Jostens here: Energy Institute Senior Website with Jostens. Don't forget - you do not need to purchase a yearbook, cap/gown, or tassel.

College Acceptances:

You will need to upload your acceptances into SchooLinks and complete the google form below. Here are your steps:

Update result on SchooLinks (accepted, denied, waitlisted, deferred)
If accepted, upload a screenshot (or photo if paper acceptance) on SchooLinks. Make sure the screenshot shows your name, the college name, and the verbiage of an acceptance. It can be a picture of a letter or a screenshot of a congratulatory email.
Complete the google form sharing the good news with us so we can post it – www.tinyurl.com/IGotIn26.

Merit Aid/Financial Aid:

Make sure you are taking screenshots of all merit aid and financial aid offers. This will need to be uploaded into SchoolLinks as well. You can do this now and will need to do this before April 24th. These offers disappear if not accepted, so it's important you screenshot them now as they will not be there if you wait until later in the Spring.
