Senior Field Trip

On Wednesday, October 16th the senior class went on a field trip to Rice University and TXRX. At TXRX students were able to get hands on training with various tools in their workshops including laser cutting, soldering, leathercrafting, and jewelry making. Students were able to make home some of their creations and learned skilled that can assist them during senior engineering projects. At Rice University students were able to tour the Space Science Technology Building, Moody Center for the Arts, the Clean Room, and other parts of the campus. The students saw the Nobel Prize and heard the story behind Smalley and Curl's discovery of the buckyball, watched some neat physics demonstrations, and learned about some engineering projects and robotics club from an undergraduate student. A huge thank you to Ms. Morita who helped organize the Rice experience and thank you to our parent chaperones!

College Board Honors

Energy would like to celebrate our students who have achieved national recognition.

Help us congratulate our two National Merit Semifinalists, Keira Boone and Zane Meyer. National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC®) announced the names of more than 16,000 Semifinalists the 70th annual National Merit Scholarship Program. These academically talented high school seniors have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 6,870 National Merit Scholarships worth nearly $26 million that will be offered next spring. To be considered for a Merit Scholarship® award, Semifinalists must fulfill several requirements to advance to the Finalist level of the competition. About 95 percent of the Semifinalists are expected to attain Finalist standing, and approximately half of the Finalists will win a National Merit Scholarship, earning the Merit Scholar® title.

We are also thrilled to recognize six National Merit Commended Scholars: Maxwell Evans, Brayden Friedman, Addison Millis, Sophie Morita, Chloe Phan, Rishab Subramanya. The National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) selects Commended Scholars based on a national Selection Index PSAT score.

Finally, thirty-seven of our students earned College Board National Recognition based on their performance in the classroom and on the PSAT and Advanced Placement exams. The College Board National Recognition programs recognize first-generation, Black or African American, Hispanic or Latino, Indigenous or Native students for their academic successes.

We are incredibly proud of all our students for their hard work.

Energy Staff wants to Thank Energy PTO!

The EIHS PTO continues to show up big for our school. We want to thank them for the continued support. This year they’ve treated our teachers to meals, facilitated a successful Amazon Wish List drive, provided cohort project support, and paid for transportation for all field experiences. Please support our PTO by donating to their Annual Fund. Know that all money raised goes directly supporting our innovative project work.

Yearbook Portraits

The Yearbook portrait galleries are available for students and parents. All students will be emailed to their HISD email with instructions on accessing their yearbook portrait. Parents will also receive an email if their email is on file with Lot Five Studios. Access instructions are available at https://www.lotfivestudioes.com/eihs2425
