Energy Students meet with an Astronaut

On Sunday, Dec 8, young ladies from Energy Institute HS got a chance to meet current astronaut, Dr. Jeanette Epps. Dr. Epps was selected by NASA in 2009 as an astronaut. Dr. Epps launched to the International Space Station on March 3, 2024, as a mission specialist on NASA’s SpaceX Crew-8 mission. She served as a flight engineer aboard the orbiting laboratory.

NASA’s SpaceX Crew-8 mission returned them to Earth on October 25th concluding a nearly eight-month science mission and the agency’s eighth commercial crew rotation mission to the International Space Station. The mission’s 235 days in low-Earth orbit set the single-mission record for the longest time an American crewed spacecraft spent in space.

The students were invited through a partnership with the Houston (TX), Chapter of the Links Incorporated, thanks to Dr. Dawn Dubose who brought an NSBE, Jr. chapter to Energy IHS. Dr. Dubose is the Chief of Schools for the Stafford Municipal School District.

11th & 12th Grade Field Trip to Universal Technical Institute
