Underclass Awards Night

On Wednesday, April 16th, we celebrated our 9th, 10th, and 11th graders with various awards due to their hard work and perseverance at Energy. We are so grateful for the amazing accomplishments each of these students has achieved and for the support of their families and friends.

SheBuildsHouston Event

On Thursday, April 3^rd, a group of Energy junior and senior students had the opportunity to attend the #SheBuildsHouston event held at Delmar Stadium. Our students were able to listen to a panel of women that have careers in the construction industry, learn about different heavy equipment and power tools that are used, and they also had a chance to find out more about job opportunities within the industry.

Cohort 1 Update

After a wonderful exhibition and closure of their PBL 2, students had the opportunity to start a new project: Space City! 

With this PBL, students go through the process of getting a new team, interacting with a new group, and preparing for the material they will be learning during this last project of the school year. 

Students had different activities to build strong relationships with their new group, and this will suit them for a strong start on this PBL.

Principles of Manufacturing Update

This week, Principles of Manufacturing students walked to Lockhart Elementary to give the students their hand-crafted design. Energy students were given drawings of mythological creatures from their 4^th and 5^th grade “clients”. POM students were tasked with bringing their artwork to life and creating a toy figurine based on the character and a Pokémon-style playing card to describe the character’s strengths and weaknesses. After wrapping up our project, students presented their CAD Fusion designs and received their 3D printed products. The elementary students were thrilled as our projects with Lockhart’s students continue evolving and advancing.

Juan at the National Wildlife Federation Showcase

I have made a solar panel presentation for the purpose of showing the ease it is to be able to set up their own solar panel system in case of an emergency power outage. The presentation showcases each individual part of the solar panel in depth with a memorable presentation style. As well as showcase what opportunities are at EIHS, such as finding internships or becoming certified in multiple CAD software.

Sustainability Certification Exam

Recently, the Junior engineering students took an exam to become certified in Sustainable Design with Solidworks. This certification qualifies students as Solidworks Associates who are experts in sustainable development, including principles of sustainable companies, assessing products for their level of sustainability, and sustainable marketing strategies. Although 63 students in the cohort are now certified, more are planning to use the final certification opportunity on 4/25 to earn the certificate. Congratulations to these outstanding students!

Earth Day Picnic in the Park at Evelyn's Park

Evelyn's Park Conservancy will be hosting our 8th Annual Earth Day Picnic in the Park Celebration on Saturday, April 26, 2025, from 12:00-4:00.

Visitors can grab their picnic blankets and enjoy the band and live music, arts & crafts, Earth Day themed activities, treasure hunts around our "Move One Place On" sculpture, and educational opportunities on sustainability. There will also be a small, curated market where we will have a select number of vendors related to the Earth conscious theme. Have fun with family, community, and nature!!

Young Women's Energized Class of 2025

For twenty-three years, the Women’s Energy Network of Houston (WENH) outreach program, Young Women Energized (YWE), has empowered young women to pursue degrees and careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). Our dynamic programs inspire high school young women and support their ambitions, highlighting the transformative benefits of studying STEM and entering the energy industry. Each year, YWE awards a one-time STEM scholarship to deserving young women. These scholarship recipients, who hail from diverse social and economic backgrounds, receive the affirmation and opportunities needed to “Reimagine the Possible with Confidence,” positioning them to earn their STEM degrees and change not only their lives but also the communities they inhabit.

Sisterhood, mentorship, diversity, and inclusion are our guiding principles at YWE. We take great pride in watching our scholarship winners return as keynote speakers and mentors, uplifting the next generation of young women. YWE is dedicated to “Paying It Forward” for female empowerment and raising awareness about career opportunities in the energy industry and STEM.

The award-winning YWE STEM Outreach Conference equips students, parents, and educators with the tools for college and career planning through mentoring circles, interactive sessions, and inspiring stories from young STEM advocates and recent scholarship winners.

Contemporary Arts Museum of Houston Teen Arts Opportunity

For teens interested in fashion, T.C. is organizing a teen Fashion Show to inaugurate our Teen Council Symposium. They are seeking design submissions and models; on June 6, teens will be showcasing their work walking the CAMH runway.

Spring 2025 Graduation

Energy Institute High School Spring 2025 Graduation will be held on Saturday, June 7th, 2025 at 3:00 pm at Barnett Fieldhouse (6800 Fairway, Houston, Texas 77087).
