Senior Prom

On Thursday, May 1, 2025 we celebrated our seniors at our Senior Honors Night. Students were honored for their academic achievements, soft skill development, and other ways they stand out. Thanks to ExxonMobil's generosity, we were able to award over $22,000 in scholarships!

We are so grateful for the amazing accomplishments each student has achieved and for the support of their families and friends.

Energy is Accepting Polo Shirt Donations

If your child has outgrown their Energy polo, please have them bring it to the main office as a donation to help our future Energy students. Seniors do not have any additional events that will require their Energy polo shirt, so we also encourage our seniors to donate their polo if they will no longer wear it.

Cohort 3 Visits the Alley Theatre

Thanks to our PTO for supporting our amazing field experience earlier this month to help our cohort answer the driving question: How can we, as a theatre company, create a machine that enhances the spectacle of a historical play? Cohort 3 students visited the Alley Theatre for an exciting behind-the-scenes field trip. They watched stage mechanical effects from the audience, stage, and below stage, toured the prop shop and theatre spaces, and explored the 14th-floor workshop where sets and scenery are built. It was a hands-on look at the creative and technical work that brings live theatre to life.

Final Exam Schedule

The final exam schedule has been released. Senior Final exams are this week on May 19-22 and Underclass Final Exams will be May 30 - June 4. You can view the specific schedule via this link. Students are able to exempt some final exams in the Spring. Below you can find the rules for final exam exemptions. Please reach out to a dean if you have any questions.

Weapon Detection Rolls Out This Week

As we previously shared, Houston ISD is rolling out a Weapon Detection System in all high schools district wide in Houston ISD. Energy Institute's Weapon Detection System rolls out on Wednesday, May 21st. In preparation for the roll-out, students should have reviewed a slideshow in PBL Skills and watched a short video to see what to expect. On Monday and Tuesday, we will have a dry run without the system being turned on so that students can get the process down. As you can see on the presentation, students will need to have their laptops removed from their bag to hand to a staff members while they walk through the system. If they have any other large metal things, they will need to be removed as well. On Wednesday, the students will go through the system with it turned on for the first time. As we adjust to these new procedures, students should arrive early so there is enough time to go through the system. If you have any questions, please reach out to your child's dean.

Last Chance Yearbooks!

Energy yearbooks are being distributed today and tomorrow. If you missed your chance to buy the yearbook, you have one last chance. $45 cash, first come, first served. See Ms. Gardner if you'd like to purchase one of the remaining yearbooks!

Young Women's Energized Class of 2025

For twenty-three years, the Women’s Energy Network of Houston (WENH) outreach program, Young Women Energized (YWE), has empowered young women to pursue degrees and careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). Our dynamic programs inspire high school young women and support their ambitions, highlighting the transformative benefits of studying STEM and entering the energy industry. Each year, YWE awards a one-time STEM scholarship to deserving young women. These scholarship recipients, who hail from diverse social and economic backgrounds, receive the affirmation and opportunities needed to “Reimagine the Possible with Confidence,” positioning them to earn their STEM degrees and change not only their lives but also the communities they inhabit.

Sisterhood, mentorship, diversity, and inclusion are our guiding principles at YWE. We take great pride in watching our scholarship winners return as keynote speakers and mentors, uplifting the next generation of young women. YWE is dedicated to “Paying It Forward” for female empowerment and raising awareness about career opportunities in the energy industry and STEM.

The award-winning YWE STEM Outreach Conference equips students, parents, and educators with the tools for college and career planning through mentoring circles, interactive sessions, and inspiring stories from young STEM advocates and recent scholarship winners.

SAVE THE DATES: Join us in realizing our 23rd Anniversary goal by promoting, sharing, and motivating students to participate in these impactful programs:

· Over 500 students attending the YWE STEM Outreach Conference, to be held in person on Saturday, TBD, at TBD.

· Over 500 female students graduating in 2025, applying for the YWE STEM scholarships.

The scholarship application is now open, with a deadline of Saturday, September 27, 2025 (subject to change).
