Last week we welcomed over 160 incoming students through a truly Energy tradition — Bridge Camp at Forest Glen! Our newest students along side 20 student mentors spent their time in Huntsville tackling team-building challenges and excursions, making new friends, and beginning to discover what it means to be part of the Energy community. From new connections and unforgettable experiences to the much-anticipated cohort reveal, Bridge Camp was the perfect way to kick off their Energy journey!

🎒 Back-to-School

Back to school means back to the Energy! Our students wasted no time jumping into team-building competitions, learning from inspiring guest speakers, and getting hands-on with activities that brought learning to life. From day one, they were connecting, collaborating, and ready to make this year count!

Students in Cohort 5 began their junior experience through a friendly competition.

Senior student interns had a lunch & learn with our college and readiness coordinator, Ms. Cortinas.

In Principles of Manufacturing, students began exploring cars to discover internal mechanisms.

Senior Sunrise ☀️

Our seniors ended their last first week of high school with one of the sweetest senior traditions — Senior Sunrise! Decked out in their decorated senior jeans, the Class of 2027 gathered before dawn for breakfast snacks, photos, laughs, and time together as they watched the sun rise on the beginning of their final year at Energy. One sunrise down, and a year full of memories still to make!

Class of 2027, it’s time to make it official! Senior Dues are now open, and the Early Bird rate is the lowest price you’ll see all year — so don’t wait! Even better, seniors who pay in full by September 30 will be entered into a drawing to win a pair of AirPods!

Meet the Principal 🏫

Did you know that one of our stellar former teacher/former deans is now the acting Principal for Energy? Ms. Lambropoulos, our founding principal, has moved up into an Executive Director role for the Friends of Energy non-profit and Ms. Harris has moved up to take on the adventure of a lifetime!

A Message From Principal Harris

It is with great excitement and deep honor that I welcome you to Energy Institute High School. I am proud to serve a school community that has long been recognized for its innovative approach to teaching and learning and its commitment to preparing students for the future.

At Energy Institute, we believe students learn best when they are engaged in meaningful work that challenges them to think deeply, solve authentic problems, and apply their learning across disciplines. Through our interdisciplinary project-based learning model, students explore complex questions, collaborate with their peers, and connect classroom learning to the world around them. Every project provides an opportunity for students to strengthen the knowledge, skills, and habits that will serve them well in college, careers, and life.

Our vision extends beyond academic achievement. We are intentional about developing the skills that matter most in today's world: communication, collaboration, critical thinking, adaptability, and leadership. We want our graduates to leave Energy Institute not only with a strong academic foundation but also with the confidence and experience needed to succeed in an ever-changing workforce.

I am committed to ensuring that Energy Institute remains a model for what teaching and learning can be. Working alongside our talented educators, engaged families, industry partners, and community members, we will continue creating experiences that are relevant, rigorous, and inspiring. All families are encouraged to complete a Meal Benefits Application through SchoolCafe to determine eligibility for free or reduced-price school meals for the 2026-2027 school year.

Please note that the information provided on the application is used solely to determine meal benefit eligibility.

Submitting a completed application helps determine whether your student qualifies for: • Free meals

 • Reduced-price meals

 • Paid meal status

We encourage every Energy family to apply, even if you are unsure whether your household qualifies.

Students will continue to receive the same meal benefits they had during the 2025-2026 school year for the first 30 operating days of the school year or until their application is processed, whichever comes first.

Once applications are processed: 

• Students approved for Free or Reduced-Price meals will continue receiving school meals at no charge.
• Students assigned Paid status will begin paying for lunch starting the following school day.

Energy Open House 📔

We’re opening our doors and inviting our Energy families to our annual Energy Open House! Move through your child's schedule (at your own pace), meet the teachers who make the magic happen, explore our classrooms and labs, and get a firsthand look at what your student experiences each day. It’s your chance to meet, mingle, ask questions, and feel the Energy! Before you go, join your first-ever Cohort Meeting to see your child's cohort teacher team! We can’t wait to welcome you to campus! Senior parents will attend a Senior Parent Meeting in the Ted Talk. Open House is a time for parents or guardians to visit. This is not a student event.
