Dean Champion to the Rescue

The newest member of the Deans of EIHS has hit the ground running, organizing the annual Club Fair with 50 student-leaders. Club Fair was a hit. Thank you Dean Champion!

Club Fair Brings Energy to Student Life at EIHS

Energy Institute High School kicked off its annual Club Fair with enthusiasm, showcasing nearly 50 student clubs available this year. From academic organizations to interest-based groups, students had the chance to explore opportunities that foster leadership, teamwork, and creativity.

“Joining a club is more than just an extracurricular, it’s a way to build community and discover your passions,” Dean MacGregor shared. Club involvement not only enriches the high school experience but also strengthens college applications by highlighting leadership and commitment.

Starting in October, EIHS will launch a new flex schedule, giving students regular time during the school day to participate in clubs. This ensures that every scholar has the chance to connect with peers, develop new skills, and pursue meaningful interests.

Students are encouraged to join at least one club or even start a new one if their interest isn’t yet represented. As Principal Lambropoulos says,“Clubs add life to academics. They’re where community happens, and where students discover what excites them most.”

REMINDER: Seniors do not have to order a yearbook as the yearbook is a part of the Senior package.

Cohort 2 Launches First Project: Survival

In Cohort 2, students are diving into their very first project of the year, Project: Survival. As they get to know their new teams, scholars are building collaboration and communication skills while engaging in meaningful activities that involve reading, writing, creating, and presenting their ideas to both peers and teachers.

The excitement extended beyond the classroom during Parent Night, where families joined in the learning experience. Parents and guardians had the chance to participate in hands-on PBL activities, meet the teachers, and ask thoughtful questions about classroom procedures and the development of the Cohort’s classes. The evening was both fun and informative, strengthening the partnership between school and home.

With strong teamwork, creative learning, and enthusiastic family support, Cohort 2 is looking forward to an amazing 2025–2026 school year. Go Energy!

Engineering Students Design Custom Lanyards

Under the leadership of Mr. Calvin Mark, who teaches Engineering Design and Development, Energy’s engineering students recently put their creativity and collaboration skills to the test. Each team designed and produced their own custom lanyards using the resources and materials provided by EIHS.

This hands-on project gave students the chance to practice design thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork, all key elements of engineering. The results were both practical and innovative, showing how student imagination can bring everyday items to life.

TESLA Award Recipient of the Week: Dean Liz Harris

Congratulations to Dean Liz Harris, our TESLA Award recipient of the week! Mrs. Sri (last week's recipient who passed the baton to Dean Harris) had this to say: Mrs. Harris is an inspiring leader whose thoughtful feedback has made a lasting impact on her colleagues. “This is my first job in the U.S., and through her guidance I’ve grown into a stronger educator. Her feedback helped me structure my lessons in a way that students receive clear, meaningful instruction, and I can see the difference in their learning.”

We celebrate Mrs. Harris not only for her leadership but also for the way she uplifts others and strengthens the Energy community.

UT Austin Admissions Visit – September 15, 2025

Energy Institute High School scholars had the amazing opportunity to connect with Mr. Rose, Admissions Representative from UT Austin. He shared an inside look at Longhorn life, covering housing, admissions, financial aid, and more, while also answering students’ questions one-on-one.

With more than 20 students in attendance, the session was filled with energy, excitement, and valuable insights. A big thank you to Mr. Rose for helping our students see what it takes to become a future Longhorn. Hook ’em! 🤘

Cohort 6 Exhibition Showcases History and Innovation

On September 26, 2025, Cohort 6 students proudly presented their first exhibition of the year, a short-term project inspired by the National History Day competition. Designed and guided by Ms. Whitfield and the Cohort 6 team, this project gave students just six weeks to research, design, and showcase their creativity in action.

Though on a shorter timeline than the official November exhibition, the project was rich with learning. Students displayed hard work, thoughtful analysis, and innovative approaches while practicing critical skills like presenting, collaborating, and engaging with their peers and teachers. “We wanted to give them more than just an assignment,” Mrs. Whitfield explained. “This project gave them a moment to share their work, build confidence, and find a sense of purpose.”

The exhibition also tied into the upcoming Regional History Fair in Houston, where students will have the opportunity to take their projects to the next level. With strong support from teachers and classmates, Cohort 6 is developing not just academic knowledge but also the soft skills and presentation skills that prepare them for future challenges.

The energy and excitement in the room were clear—Cohort 6 is off to a strong start, and we look forward to seeing even greater achievements as the year unfolds.

Spirit Wear Announcement: Order Your Energy Polo Shirts

Orders for Energy polo shirts are now being accepted. These polos are required for students when attending field trips and other group events, so be sure to get yours early. To place an order, email spiritstore@energyinstitutepto.org or order online. Shirts will be delivered directly to Energy for easy pickup.
