This is Huge for WEP/GPO Victims

In case you haven't heard, we've reached 294 cosponsors on H.R. 82 – the Social Security Fairness Act.

A bipartisan coalition of members, advocates, and retirees is working to fix this broken policy that unfairly punishes our public servants – and we will keep building momentum.

Teachers, law enforcement, firefighters, and local and state public servants are the crucial scaffolding of our society. That's why I am continuing to push this legislation in Congress.

Watch our recent press conference with stakeholders on the progress of H.R. 82. Victims also shared personal stories about how WEP and GPO provisions have affected them.

We Should Be Helping, Not Handing Out

I recently offered an amendment to strengthen work requirements for in exchange for government assistance.

The U.S. has one of the lowest workforce participation rates in modern history - and 8.8 million jobs available. The objective of work requirements for folks receiving government assistance is to connect them with assistance centers, training opportunities, volunteer and educational opportunities - ultimately to help them reintegrate into the workforce and not need government assistance anymore.

I want to know your thoughts - do you agree with me?

Disaster Response?

Delays, Lack of Action, and Do-Loops

I recently introduced a bipartisan bill to re-establish FEMA as a cabinet-level federal agency.

When a disaster threatens, we need action not bureaucracy. Having FEMA buried within the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) only limits their ability to respond rapidly when disaster strikes.

This experiment of putting FEMA under the Secretary of Homeland Security has failed. They can't even handle the border. Americans deserve better. Louisianians deserve a FEMA that responds with the same urgency that they feel after a disaster. It's long overdue.

Are you satisfied with the current urgency of disaster response?

This Should Be a No Brainer

Why are we relying on foreign oil when we have the resources in our backyard? Doesn't relying on foreign energy sources increase costs?

The Biden Administration's flawed energy policies are the driving force behind the surging cost of living, and it's impacting all of us daily. We've heard this question repeatedly and have been sounding this alarm for years.

We will continue pushing legislation to ramp up domestic energy production and drive down costs. Louisiana has abundant energy resources and can lead the way.

Has the increase in costs made you rethink your budget lately?
