Get empowered with our free energy efficiency workshops

Join us for a series of FREE 'Get Empowered' energy workshops as we help you better understand your electricity bill, how to become more energy efficient, and learn all you need to know about battery storage and solar power.

Bring back the local birds

A key goal of the City of Marion Remnant Vegetation Plan is to bring back the River Red Gum open woodland.

Join the Friends of Lower Field River to help plant 500 native plants to provide homes for native birds.

Come along, get your hands dirty, and bring gloves, a trowel, water bottle and wear covered shoes.

Verge Incentive Fund
 
Green your verge this spring!

City of Marion residents can apply to create a garden on their verge and receive a rebate for 50% of the costs (up to $500).

Native gardens are easy to maintain, attract local wildlife, and make our streets a greener and cooler place.

Writing the Self: Embodied Lessons from Nature
 
What can we learn about ourselves from our personal experience of sitting under a gum tree, hearing rainbow lorikeets or feeling the rain on our skin?

All writing - from journaling to fiction to memoir - is enriched by observations of the surrounding environment. The presenter will guide participants through exercises of listening to the wisdom of the body in the natural word.

Saturday 20 August, 10:30am - 12:30pm @ Cove Civic Centre.

Glandore Plant Sale
 
Brighten up your garden this spring!

The Glandore Community Garden has been busy propagating plants just for you.

Vegetable seedlings and decorative plants are available.

Come early and grab a coffee and cake at Cafe 25.

Saturday 10 September, 9:30am - 1pm @ Glandore Community Centre (access the garden via Malwa St, at the back of the centre grounds.

Funding to keep big trees on private land

Have a large tree on your property that needs maintaining?

Regulated/Significant trees provide benefit to the whole community, which is why funding is available for:
- Arborist report (conditions apply)
- Tree pruning
- Pest and disease control


To find out more about the Regulated Tree Maintenance Fund and to see if you are eligible for a tree on your property contact Council to discuss.

Over 200 volunteers braved the cold conditions, on Sunday 31 July and planted out 6,340 local native grasses, shrubs and trees at Oaklands Wetland.

The Friends of Sturt River Landcare and City of Marion teamed up for this planting event that will attract an abundance of butterflies, native bees, good bugs and birds.

Take a walk through this beautiful site to get closer to nature. Located at Oaklands Wetland.
Southern Environment Youth Crew

A diverse group of young people, passionate about the environment, gathered last month to learn more about climate change action.

Resilient South and Council Environment Officers spoke about current climate change projects and inspired participants to develop their own action projects.

Basket weaving and Nature journaling activities featured on the day to connect participants to nature and with each other.

Watch this space as our youth come together to contribute to the resilience of Adelaide's south.

If you're interested in representing the people of your community on council, resources are available to help you better understand the role and responsibilities.

Nominations are open from Tuesday 23 August until midday Tuesday 6 September.

Climate Leaders Awards are now open!

The Premier’s Climate Change Council is looking to showcase the innovative work happening across South Australia to grow the sustainability and resilience of our state through responding and adapting to climate change.

A $10,000 prize is up for grabs for the overall winner.

Entries close 19 August 2022.
