Bishop’s garden raises more than £20,000 for Norfolk charities
Visitors to the Bishop of Norwich’s garden helped local charities raise more than £20,000 this summer – and there is still time to apply to host an event next year.
Every year the Bishop of Norwich, the Rt Revd Graham Usher, and his wife Rachel, invite local charities to hold fund-raising open afternoons among the flowers, orchards, walks and lawns of their historic walled garden.
This summer almost 3,000 people enjoyed visiting the garden for charity open afternoons with refreshments, stalls, games and entertainment.

New disability advisor to be ‘a blessing to many’
Meet Thomas Harrison, the Bishop of Norwich’s advisor for disability.
Engineer and musician Thomas, who is blind and lives on a boat at Brundall with his family, is the first person appointed to the new role.
Thomas and his wife Hilary have lived aboard their boat, the Golden Mean, for the past 22 years. They worship with the Garden Church and East Church in Norwich and Thomas works for a national charity, analysing websites and apps to ensure they are accessible to blind and partially-sighted people.

The Bishop's Certificate in Christian Learning, why choose this course?
"I wholeheartedly recommend this course for anyone looking to expand their knowledge but with a light touch on the academic side. If nothing else it could be treated as a taster for further study, something to dip your toe in so to speak.”
Thanks to Michelle, from the first cohort in 2025 for writing her review of the course. You can read all about on the website.

Train to become an Eco Chaplain this October
We’re building a network of chaplains across the diocese. If you’re already a parish Eco Rep, this will really simply mean sharing your experience with churches in a wider area. Could God be calling you?
The primary purpose of this voluntary role is to encourage and support churches to respond to the climate an ecological crisis, by advocating for environmental action, resourcing others, and helping churches on their Eco Church and net zero journey. The role is supported by the Diocesan Environment Officer and Net Zero Adviser.
The next training course takes place over Thursday 9 and Thursday 16 October,
