The National Domestic Violence Hotline recently released new statistics. In 2015, the Hotline answered 264,980 calls nationally. Of the contacts that disclosed their locations, 3,382 were from Maryland, ranking the state #17 nationally in terms of contact volume.

Conference Registration: Deadline Extended to May 16!

MNADV's statewide conference, Inform. Empower. Advocate. Working to End Domestic Violence in Maryland, will be held on Friday, June 3, 2016 from 9:00 am - 4:30 pm at the DoubleTree at Hilton in Annapolis. Anna Melbin from Full Fram Initiative will be featured as the keynote speaker. A total of 18 workshops will be offered in three workshop sessions. Registration has been extended to May 16, 2016.

Taking "Paws": Working with Survivors who have Service Animals

MNADV formed an interdisciplinary workgroup made up of advocates from the fields of domestic violence, disability rights, and animal rights to address the needs of survivors with disabilities who use service animals. The culmination of this project is the release of guidance for organizations in the form of a document, Service Animal Accommodation Information for Domestic Violence Service Providers, a training on May 19, 2016 that is open to the public, and a future training to be held for service providers.

Michaele Cohen and Erin Boguski were featured guests on Living Unshackled ON Purpose, a television show of the Gospel 4 U TV Network. Show host Jennifer Foxworthy interviewed Michaele and Erin in an effort so viewers could learn more about the dynamics of domestic violence, the history of the domestic violence movement, the resources available to victims, and the role of MNADV as a statewide coalition.
