RIVERBANK EROSION PARTNERSHIP MEETING
Join us on Wednesday, May 15 from 10 am to noon for our second riverbank erosion partnership table meeting. We invite all affected communities, GNWT partners, researchers, and anyone interested in making a positive difference. To attend please register at this link. You will receive a confirmation email with the meeting link.
At this meeting we will hear updates from communities and other partners around the table who are working to address riverbank erosion and its impact on community infrastructure and wellbeing.
This partnership table is an ongoing initiative to connect and support communities experiencing riverbank erosion and build partnerships with governments, researchers, consultants, and others who have the capacity, expertise, or mandate to help. We aim to make real progress together through information sharing, discussion, research, and action. This table is part of a series of collaborative risk-based partnership tables the NWTAC is organizing to tackle climate change risks that are the highest priority for our communities. Read more about our work in this article on Cabin Radio and in our partnerships white paper.
For more information please contact Miki Ehrlich, our Partnership Facilitator, at miki@nwtac.com or 867-873-8359.

OFFICIAL LANGUAGES ACT
The Government of Canada has reformed Canada’s official languages regime by modernizing the Official Languages Act and enacting a new law, the Use of French in Federally Regulated Private Businesses Act. To give concrete expression to the various elements of that reform, the Government has committed to developing and implementing two new sets of regulations:
- Regulations supporting the coming into force of the Commissioner of Official Languages’ new power to impose administrative monetary penalties on certain entities subject to the Official Languages Act
- Regulations establishing the enforcement regime for the new Use of French in Federally Regulated Private Businesses Act
The Government needs all the relevant information to make informed decisions. To this end, it has issued a questionnaire to the general public and stakeholders that will run from May 9th, 2024, to July 3rd, 2024.
Fill out the questionnaire!
