COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD

NWTAC 2025 COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD

Congratulations to Margaret Ireland, who was awarded the 2025 NWTAC Community Service Award winner at the NWTAC AGM.

Margaret was recognized for her decades-long leadership in climate resilience, community-led research, and service to the Jean Marie River First Nation. As a Councillor and longtime Resource Management Coordinator, she has guided efforts to document traditional knowledge, build partnerships, and lead studies that help the community adapt to the impacts of climate change.

Her work has consistently centered the voices and needs of her community, from launching adaptation strategies to mentoring future leaders. Margaret also serves on several health and land stewardship boards, contributing to broader regional well-being.

This award honours her commitment to community, the land, and a more resilient future for Jean Marie River and the NWT.

Check out the NWTAC Awards for more information on our awards and winners.
