Community Government Learning & Development (CGLD), formerly the School of Community Government, is hosting a conference, Financial Skills for Success on the Job, Oct. 22-24 in Yellowknife. The conference will be held in the MACA CGLD Training Room, 5th floor, Northwest Tower.

EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT EXEMPLARY SERVICE AWARD
Federal, Provincial, and Territorial Ministers recognize the work being done across Canada to prevent, prepare for, respond to, and recover from emergencies and disasters.
The Emergency Management Exemplary Service Award is a prestigious recognition for exceptional service and achievement. This award, a partnership between federal, provincial, and territorial governments, recognizes recipients who have achieved excellence in their respective fields. Across Canada, there are many deserving individuals and groups working on emergency management, such as community-based volunteers, people working in all levels of government in emergency management organizations, and Indigenous communities.

TOM LONGBOAT REGIONAL AWARDS
The Tom Longboats Awards were established in 1951 to recognize Indigenous athletes for their outstanding contributions to sport in Canada. It remains the longest-standing and one of the most prestigious awards for Indigenous athletes in the country. The Awards typically honour the accomplishments of an athlete within a given program year (May 31, 2023 to May 31, 2024). Each Province and Territory can name one man and one woman recipient of the Regional Tom Longboat Award.
Applicants must meet the following criteria to be eligible as nominees:
• Applicants must be of Indigenous descent (inclusive of First Nations, Inuit, and Metis)
• Applicants must be active within the nomination period
• Applicants must demonstrate sportsmanship, fair play and ethics in sport

CMHC HOUSING SCHOLARSHIP
This Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC)-SSHRC initiative offers research training awards and supplements to postdoctoral researchers and doctoral and master’s students in the social sciences and humanities whose work is related to one or more of the National Housing Strategy’s priority areas for action.

EARLY LEARNING AND CHILD CARE SCHOLARSHIP
The Government of the Northwest Territories is accepting applications for Early Learning and Child Care Scholarships for the 2024-2025 school year.
Full-time students are eligible for $5,000 per school year and part-time students are eligible for up to $500 per course, to a maximum of $2,500 per school year.
Award applications are due by September 15, 2024.

CANADA POST AWARD FOR INDIGENOUS STUDENTS
The Canada Post Awards for Indigenous Students celebrate the hard work and determination of Indigenous peoples who have embraced a renewed pursuit of learning.
The awards are open to all First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples who have been out of school for one year or more, who have since decided to return to an educational system, and who have now been back at school for at least one year.
Award applications are due by August 31, 2024.

HOUSING ACCELERATOR FUND
The federal government has announced the reopening of the Housing Accelerator Fund (HAF), which will be accepting applications from July 15 to September 13, 2024.
Please note that funding is only available to previous applicants not approved in the 2023 application window.
